I recently had the opportunity to interview a member of the Passageways staff for an article I was writing on honeymoons. She offered the following tips/strategies to future brides and grooms. Mistakes that honeymooners make, that a travel agent can help avoid, include booking an incorrect number of nights at their hotel (i.e. their honeymoon is from the 1st-7th and they count that as 7 nights, when it’s actually just six). This can cause all sorts of problems if they then booked their flight a day earlier (or later) than they expected.
Another mistake is not knowing which times are the cheapest travel times. For instance, sometimes changing to an evening flight or extending the trip one day longer can save upwards to $100 on air travel.
One of the disadvantages of booking with online sites (such as expedia.com or orbitz.com) is that once you’ve booked the trip, it’s yours, with little opportunity for change.
