Italian Garden has a wonderful atmosphere with romantic dim lighting. It is a small, local establishment with fresh, homemade cuisine. The servers are friendly. The alfredo sauce is to die for, as it is served hot and is pan-made when you order it. There is a listing of daily specials. All meals are cheap to reasonably priced, and the portions are rather large. Each meal could almost feed 2 people. I highly recommend the Chicken Creamora-breaded chicken topped with cheese served on a bed of pasta with white wine cream sauce.

Nephew's is located on The Square in San Marcos and is one of the prime nightlife spots. It is a great place to go to have a good time. There are drink specials and select $2 shots every night. Tuesday nights usually bring George Strait's Ace in the Hole band for some two-stepping. Sometimes, a mechanical bull is also brought in. Wednesday nights are karaoke nights. The place is packed with crooners belting out tunes. There are so many people on the list to sing, that many of them have to come back the next week to take their turn. On other nights, DJ Mista Matt can be found spinning at the club. Nephew's can be rented out and is often the choice for fraternity parties. Nephew's has both an upstairs and a back room. As an added bonus, there are also 2 pool tables to play on. Joe, the owner is on hand, every night.

The one thing that made them very attractive to me is the fact that they use baby safe products so you don't have to worry that there might be harmful chemicals on the floor where your children play.

This theater is a bargain price wise, but you are giving a few things up to get this great price. There are only three screens so your choices are very limited. The theater itself is old and has a somewhat musty smell. If you can get past the appearance and smell of the theater they show recently released movies, no longer in other theaters but not yet on video.

DK Nails is located in the small shopping center in the parking lot next to the Wal-Mart Supercenter in San Marcos. Walk-ins are welcome. All of the technicians at DK Nails are friendly, and you are usually greeted by the owner as you enter. The massage chairs that you are seated in as your feet are soaked are awesome! They knead your entire back from top to bottom. A pedicure takes about 50 minutes because the technicians are thorough. They also do a great job of painting French tips on your toes!

Aquarena Springs in San Marcos used to be a great place to visit. The natural fed springs can still be viewed from the glass bottom boats, but I was a bit disappointed to see that the Submarine Theater featuring the Mermaids and the attractions were gone (my little one doesn’t believe that there was ever a swimming Pig either)! I don’t think we’ll be going back anytime soon. The gift shop is still there as well as the hotel but it’s just not like it used to be. Seems to have gone Corporate.

Paper Bear is definitely worth a visit! The place is huge and you could spend hours just browsing and looking at everything. There is something for everyone here including unique jewelry, collectible items (like Department 56), stationery and scrapbooking supplies, toys for children, party supplies, and a variety of other unique gifts. They also have candy! Their prices are reasonable and the staff is not pushy. They will let you walk around and browse at your leisure, but are available to help and answer questions when you need them to!
