Franklin Hotel

I think this is one of the nicest traditional restaurants in Rome. They have several seating area...including a large private room for parties. The inside is pretty sparse and most of the rooms are just one large room, without little areas spaced out or room dividers. The food is very traditional Italian and everything is very good....especially their greens. However, the best part of this restaurant is the dessert! As you come in, there is a large display area of homemade cookies, breads, and pastries. Yummy! Their carrot cake is one of the best....lots of creamy frosting and nuts on this cake. So, come here for dinner or come here just to grab a pastry or 2. more

Don't be fooled by the outer appearance--the Franklin Hotel is in a bit sketchy part of town with an exterior that's not particularly notable (save the still-hanging icicle lights)--but it is not to be missed! The primary cuisine offered here is Italian--often with just a twist here and there to make their dinners truly unique and delicious! Try the Ravioli with shitake mushrooms or the Shrimp and Snowpeas in butter/garlic sauce or the locally renowned greens--you will not be disappointed! Whatever you do, save room for dessert--they're especially noted for their amazing Italian pastry--cannolis are just the beginning! Best of all are the prices--meals are *very* economical--a family of 4 could easily eat dinner and dessert for less than $30--but try to avoid the very busy dinner hours on Friday and Saturday (service is quick but people tend to linger so you could be in for a wait!) more
