I first experienced the awesome ice cream at Cook's Dairy about 8 years ago while visiting family that lived in Ortonville. Last weekend we were in the area on a business trip and made a special pass through Ortonville. Of course, we had to stop at Cook's! My kids loved seeing all of the cows. There were also about 10 brand new calves. It was so cool to see them petting the animals. I must say, the pig pen was a bit stinky so don't venture over there if you can't handle smelly stuff. The ice cream at Cook's is so awesome. For $3.75 you get a "single" serving in a waffle cone. They stuff the cone, then put at least 2 or 3 scoops of ice cream crammed on the top of the cone. I actually couldn't finish mine it was so much. My favorite flavor has to be "Cow Pie." It is rich, dark chocolate ice cream with chocolate covered cashew pieces mixed in. YUM :) A few in our group had milk shakes & said they were totally awesome. There's an outdoor picnic shelter available. They also sell fresh milk, butter, & bacon. I would highly recommend a stop at Cook's if you are in the area. It's well worth the drive.

This project far exceeded my greatest expectations. Our backyard was transformed from a no-privacy open space to an enjoyable outdoor living area. Design ideas originally set this company apart from other contractors. We did not have a good idea of what wanted and really liked his original design. Bob was willing to come to our house several times before we committed to him, making minor changes to the design to fit our budget and for additional requests. When the project started, the crew was timely, friendly and worked hard. Most importantly, the craftmanship was first rate. After this experience, I would never use another contractor

I just recently moved close to Ortonville so I have been frequently dining at Bull Frogs. They have the best food ever. You cant go wrong with whatever you order on the menu. They have a dj on Friday nights and bands on Saturday nights. Deck outside for the summer months, keno, lots of t.v's and an over all great atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.

This is a nice place to stop in and have a bite to eat. Its a clean facility. The staff is friendly and helpful. They are all about customer service. Decent size portions for your money. Alot of locals come in here. I would say- try it out and see for yourself.

Fun and cozy restaurant and bar in Ortonville, very close to Clarkston. Right off I-75. Great food, especially nachos. They have NTN trivia and Keno there also. They are just starting to have bands there! Fun place! It is has a very nice atmosphere also. There is an outside patio overlooking a lake with tables for outside seating.

This is the friendliest grocery store I have ever been in. It's located on the corner of M15 and Oakwood Road. Their prices can be a tad high on some things, though it appears they do 'try" to compete with the larger stores. Their sales are pretty decent, when they have them.
The best part of this store, however, is I've never been thre when thre has been a long line at the registers. Many of the kids who attend the local high school work there (including my son!) as "courtesy clerks." They not only bag for you, but they have a carry out service, where the courtesy clerks take your groceries to your car and load them for you. Since I have prblems with my arms, this is a huge help to me.

The Brandon Landing, AKA the Boat Bar is a local watering hole which caters to the Boomer generation on the weekends. It is located on Bald Eagle Lake, but not considered a good neighbor by the home-owners. Seems like every weekend someone has to remind them to keep down the noise. No one likes to be kept up at 12:30 by a cover band doing a bad version of "Sweet Child of Mine."
If your rolling into town and want to try your luck at getting into a bar fight, or getting your car dinged because it's got a horrible parking lot, This is the place for you. During the day, the food is OK and the staff is friendly, but the weekend entertainment attracts a rowdy crowd. The Lake home owners consider it a nuisance. Better go to the Village Pub and enjoy the quiet atmosphere or try Annie McPhea's for awesome Scottish food. Everyone likes Bangers & Mashed.
Pros: Great place during the daytime, Food & Staff are very friendly.
Cons: Weekend entertainment and night time crowd to be avoided!
