The professionalism of this establishment is only surpassed by every other bar, convenience store, restaurant, homeless person soliciting change, etc. in New Orleans.\r \r I was just there, and the bar tender completely ignored me and refused to take my order. The one time I did manage to attract his attention, he walked to the other end of the bar and served patrons who arrived after I did. \r \r This bar/restaurant should be avoided. Thankfully, The Bulldog, a far nicer, more professional establishment is about half a block uptown and across Magazine St. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 12/1/2012

We live in the neighborhood,2 blocks from the Balcony Bar. Usually we go to the Bulldog but because of the Balcony Bar's Non-Smoking Policy we decided to go here on 12-1-2012 around 11:50PM. There was a man outside who had been thrown out of the Bulldog many times. His name is ""Richard"" & we watched as he begged for drinks & inappropriately touched women outside. My female friend & I sat in a Booth & continued to watch as her preyed on women when their boyfriends left to get a beer or go to the bathroom. We reported it to the bartenders, security, & even to a guy who was now working at the Balcony who had worked at he Bull bog. My friend even sat in a booth with a young 21 year old women who we observed him molesting. She sat there to get him to stop touching this young woman. The woman thanked her. She said she didn't know what to do. One of the bartenders came to our booth to defend ""Richard"". We tried to place an order with this bartender earlier except my friend stated she couldn't ""grasp"" the order. We closed out with whatever she could ""grasp"". ""Richard"" also touched my friend in inappropriate ways as well as at least 3 other women. The bartender who could not ""grasp"" the order for a Purple Haze mixed with an Andygator came to our booth to defend ""Richard"" ,a homeless alcoholic, as the ""King"" of Magazine Street. Keep in Mind that the Bulldog will not let ""Richard"" in their door & this was not our first encounter with ""Richard"". more

Horrible food, but good atmosphere 5/10/2007

The food here is awful, although they have so much variety, from Pizza, to chicken wings and salads. It's the only 24 hr place in the area so you're kinda stuck with it. But at 2 in the morning, beggars can't be choosers. The balcony over Magazine st. is a great place to hang out though. Pros: Balcony, spacious, 2 stories Cons: food more

All around favorite for locals and college crowd 5/3/2006

After work, the Balcony is a low-key place with great drink specials. Around 9-10 PM, the locals clear out and the college crowd takes over, especially upstairs. The bartenders are fantastic here, always willing to chat and accidentally on purpose serve you a free drink. The balcony overlooks Magazine St and gets packed on weekends. There's something about this place that keeps me coming back... it seems to be an after-work spot that everyone can agree on. (Another good happy hour spot is the Bridge Lounge, btw.) Unbeatable jukebox upstairs has lots of indie rock classics, but the bartenders randomly stop it if they don't like your choices. Downstairs there's a few pool tables, darts & foosball and an internet jukebox. Also they have food late. It's nothing exceptional but the cheese fries are a great value. Good place for bar hopping since there are lots of other bars/restaurants nearby. Pros: late night food, cheap drink specials, good location Cons: crowded late more
