Good: The call came the windows were rcvd & installation was the next day.(2 windows, 2 flrs) Half a day with installers Andrew & Eric. (8AM). Bad: My contact with the installers was all positive from the early morning greet to the 'enjoy ur Penguin windows'. Other: Wih our hse facing N, the hi temp is late in the day from the west. We beat the heat the day of the installation.
Thanx to Jordan for the hook-up and Congrats to Tony!!.

Good: The windows are beautiful and seem to be doing well their job of insulation. The company shows its interest in customer service by responding promptly, personally, and courteously to questions and issues.. Bad: The windows are REALLY expensive, but I'm not having buyer's remorse. At that price, I expected absolute perfection on the day of installation. I was disappointed. There were nicks and a little bit of mess that should have been taken care of. However, a guy was sent out promptly to fix things, and after him a crew to thoroughly fix the major outstanding flaw. Windows are perfect now. Salesmen somewhat misrepresented the manufacturer's warranty and the material of the windows.. Improvements: Salesmen should explain the manufacturer's warranty accurately and distinguish it from the unwritten warranty/policy of Penguin. They should admit to the windows being vinyl, distinguishing them if appropriate from other vinyl windows. Installers seemed a little pushed for time. Our job was a tad more than 1 day's work, which may explain the imperfections left. Incentives should be given for achieving perfection even if it means another hour on a long day or coming back another day.. Other: The windows are beautiful and perform as represented so far. Even though the manufacturer's warranty is not as generous as represented, Penguin's policy of customer satisfaction seems sincerely and effectively implemented and supplements the manufacturer's warranty effectively. I hope Penguin management continues this policy throughout the years. I am so far content with what I've purchased (2 large slider windows, 1 slider door, 1 casement window)--I think the money was well spent..

Well, I've been sitting on the sidelines for awhile now and feel it's time to throw out my opinion. I am the West Coast representative of Great Lakes Window who is the company that manufactures the window for Penguin and have for about 10 years. Quite honestly, I don't understand all the negative reviews. In the time I've been associated with Penguin all I've seen is a commitment to customer service never before witnessed. In fact, before Penguin started selling our product, they were selling a window from a manufacturer in Eastern Washington. Unfortunately, that company went out of business a few years back. Today, if a Penguin customer calls with a warranty of that product, Penguin buys a new window from us and installs it in the customers house at no charge (self warranty beyond the manufacturer). Many dealers would (understandably) direct the homeowner to whatever organization holds the warranty and let them fend for themselves. It seems when a customer signs up with Penguin, they are taken care of for life, not bad I'd say. In fact, they have helped make us a better manufacturer due to their high expectations . Regarding the sales tactics, I have been fortunate to sit in and witness their training classes. They are tough and the sales staff is required to know a lot. I've seen them instructed to not mislead, apply undue pressure or fabricate information.
Pricing, are they expensive? Probably but that's what happens when the window you buy is the most expensive made, and worth every penny. Couple that with an install team that is directed to take their time to insure the product performs as well 30+ years from now as the day it was installed and add a warranty that covers everything for as long as the customer resides in their home. Finally, we have made every effort possible to create a product that will save energy, last a long time, add beauty to the home and increase security. Why would we risk the best product made in America on a company that wasn't World Class? Steve 619-292-1285

A few months ago I had a garden window and a new slider patio door replaced. the window and slider faced full west and the old door frame had warped and was leaking. The house was only 5 years old! Milgard would do nothing about the "melted" doorframe and because I lived in the Puget Sound area -- but more than two miles from the sea -- they still would not do anything and quoted the one year warranty. The seals had broken and the glass was all scratched from the previous owner's dogs.
I had priced out replacements and was looking at 4-6K but most products from the local home improvement stores only came with a 2 year warranty. I had the Penguin reps come in and yes they spent quite some time going over the product with me. The price was higher than I had originally thought it would be, but here are the pros for me:
1) the triple panes would cut the glare and i wouldn't have to have blinds to cut out the full west sun's heat and light.
2) I live on a road at the back and 3 panes might cut the noise.
3) it is hot in the summer and cold in the winter in my family room.
All three pro's were realized. the noise from the street is abated, the sun and light shines fully in but the heat does not, the glare from the windows which block my TV is gone. I don't have to have ugly blinds to cover up the beautiful windows. the door is now straight and I can have a screen again. I had the door etched with square grids and they are beautiful. The products are solid and I think worth every penny. I had three windows/doors on the back of my house where the sun is. Initially I just replaced the door and garden window. A couple of months later I had the third one done and I'm already saving to do another window. The sales reps are great and have worked with me to do one at a time as I can afford. I will eventually replace all the windows. As I've seen in other comments, you get what you pay for. For me, the three panes of glass adds so much more. The installations crews are excellent; I'd do it all again

Good: I purchased Penguin Windows for the energy savings and the resale value, and the funny thing is...the comfort is the part I never thought I cared about, but it is amazing what a difference they made.. Bad: I realized how horrible my old windows were, wish I would have taken care of them sooner. Improvements: I wish they could've made them faster to get them in my home. Other: These guys go above and beyond taking care of their customers...I had a few concerns going into it about having someone in my home, but the two salesmen that came to the door were ready with business cards and ID badges, not to mention they were very courteous of our time. My wife is skeptical of letting people into our home, and if they can gain her trust, I would personally recommend them to anyone looking into windows.

We have 13 windows and 3 sliding glass doors at our home - all are Penguin Windows products. The investment in windows/doors was the single best home improvement we've done to our home without question! The energy savings, safety factor and comfort (level) were the major reason(s) we moved forward with the window system for our home. The aluminum windows had served their purpose and it was time to update. The generous size of our window openings made it a big priority because the winter months were a smidge drafty next to the windows - what a "pane" that was? (smile.) The bonus was: we had a 5 foot sliding glass door removed and put in a 9 foot sliding glass door in its place - the den is now our single favorite place to be in the whole house. Throughout the entire process we were treated personally and professionally by their staff and installation crew. Over the three and one-half days of installation we became aware of how much tedious care they take to do it right the first time(!) and back up their craftsmanship with a lifetime warranty that gives us peace of mind. Another bonus: when/if we relocate the Penguin Window warranty stays with the home and transfers to the next homeowner. We recommended Penguin Windows to our friends and they now have them too. We would recommend them without reservation because all our experiences have been very postitive. Warm regards....

We love our windows!!! We love the company too. We have worked with them twice now. The last set of windows we bought from them to finish our house turned out as wonderful and the first time. We highly recommend this company. Don't go with the cheap crappy windows out there. You will waste your time and money! Speaking from experience we will always choose quality for all our home projects from this point forward. Thank you Penguin!
