Wegmans

Bad: i have shopped and ate meals at Wegmans in Mount Laurel NJ but after what I observed in the Ladies Restroom on two occasions I felt compelled to mention it to consumers since I am a Nurse working in Public Health. I have never observed this behavior in any other supermarkets. On 2 separate occasions in the Ladies Room I observed 2 different food handlers use the toilet and leave the restroom without washing their hands or even so much as using a sanitizer. It was reported both times.. Improvements: There is obviously not enough reinforcement of hand washing hygiene and how important it is in the industry. Also, I have observed some employees are not very nice to the customers esp in the Deli dept. If you request a fresher cut of meat or cheese they can be downright surly!. Other: I would be wary of any restaurant or food market where this is the practice. This is how disease, even life threatening infections are spread.. more

As a vegan, it is typically hard to find all the food I need at one grocery store. In the past I have always gone to Shoprite for my groceries and Whole Foods for specialty items. Now that Wegmans is here, I rarely have to go to any other stores for food because they have almost everything I need. They have more variety than any other food store I've been in. They have items that I didn't know existed from companies that I have bought from for years, which is very exciting. Aside from the selection and fairly good prices, everything else is a let down. The cashiers seem very inexperienced because they take a long time counting out simple change and when a problem arises, they give a blank stare and do not know how to react. They also seem to have glitches with the store card so there are constantly problems that hold up the lines. The managers are helpful and nice, though. This Wegmans could be better if they hired more experienced and alert cashiers and provided better training as well as having more cashiers on shift later at night. more

Wegmans combines the best aspects of all the supermarkets around here into one huge store the size of a Wal-Mart. It's amazing! First off, their prices are reasonable. They have a policy of "consistent low prices." I checked- for many items their prices are comparable to Target next door. (literally, they are in the Centerton Square off Marter Avenue) Inside, I found gourmet prepared foods and picture-perfect produce. The meat and fish are also superb. (In fact, for natural meat they are cheaper than ShopRite.) There's an appliances shop, a florist, cheese, candy (lots of it), the "Market Cafe", the Patisserie (where the staff were snobby and impolite), coffee shop, sub shop, and so much more! Best of all, Wegmans accepts ShopRite coupons right now. I got a ton of them in the mail, and I get to save on my orders here. The only con? The more time and times I come here, the more money I spend. Really, I don't see how the Acme across the street and the Stop & Shop and the SuperFresh just down Route 38 will survive. more
