The best in town 12/12/2010

This is the only place to shop for auto parts. The staff is always willing to help, and if they can't, they'll tell you so instead of trying to fake it like some of the other parts stores. Many times they have even called the other part stores to find the part I needed when they didn't have it. They are also locally owned so your money stays here instead of some place you've never heard of. more

Not what they used to be 9/18/2010

I have been shopping here for many years. They usually have what you need, and prices are usually reasonable. However, I have been noticing a shift in the attitudes of the employees for the worse. Sometimes they argue with you, and sometimes they hang up on you when they say they put you on hold. And, quite often, there are people waiting and the countermen will answer one phone call after another instead of helping those in the store waiting. And I have even seen countermen talking to people about sports etc. and not noticing the fact that people are waiting. They are a good place to buy parts, and are locally owned. However, they really really need to improve their customer service and perhaps retrain a few of their older employees who, as time has gone on, seem to have forgotten the meaning of service. If the store is busy at all and time is a factor you are better off to go elsewhere. more

National Auto PArts 11/8/2009

Lately, this has been the biggest joke of a parts store I have ever seen. The employees often act as you are interrupting their time as you walk in the door, I have even seen a few walk away as you walk in. Then, when you have an odd part you are looking for, the answer is "no" without even looking in the catalog. Sometimes I will ask a different person on a different day and they can find a part that the other person says doesn't exist. Sometimes pricing will even differ depending on who you speak to at what time of day. I get the impression that the employees of this store are just as bad, if not worse than, the inexperienced people at big chains like Schuck's. The service is inconsistent, the prices are inconsistent. How can a business survive with this kind of attitude towards the customers? more

Fantastic parts store 9/29/2009

The business seems to be improving since the management changed. They still could use more counter-people, but the employees are all knowledgable, and always willing to come out and look at your car if you're not sure what you're after. They're the only ones open late and on Sundays so I would recommend them to anyone. more

National Auto Parts BUYER BEWARE!!! 4/28/2009

BUYER BEWARE! This business will frequently substitute lower-quality, off-brand products if they are out of stock on them. They also will sell them at the full price of the part they are out of, instead of the lower price of the off-brand. Watch for parts that have part numbers taped on to the sides of boxes. They will pass these off as having the same quality as what they stock when in fact they are lower quality. Do not trust this store to provide quality brands. They stock whatever they want and charge whatever they want, usually on the higher end. BUYER BEWARE! more

National Auto Parts 1/6/2009

National is the only auto parts store in Longview that is still locally-owned. For many years this was by far the best place in town to buy parts...well-stocked, good hours, lots of "oddball" stuff, and low staff turnover meaning familiar people every time. However, this store has gone downhill over the last two years or so. First, it appears that there have been cutbacks...a lot of times there are only two people working the counter at any given time and the store gets backed up quickly. While most of the knowledgeable people are still there, I have seen times where one person is working hard while the other will be doing anything from changing price tags, to arranging items on the counter, to answering phones, all while people are waiting and being ignored (and sometimes leaving) Sometimes the countermen are excessively grouchy and will argue with you, which can be expected if they are understaffed. Also, they have cut back on a lot of their inventory, and parts often have to be special-ordered. Which usually isn't a problem, but there are times that they have to order a different brand than they stock, sometimes at quite a price difference. As far as their stocking items sometimes they are as good as the chains, sometimes a lot higher. Also, this store is in an area that is "rough" and I have been approached by people begging for money, and have had people try to enter my vehicle while in the store. It is poorly lit at night here, which is a shame because they are the only store open until 9PM. Finally, this store has not adapted to the times...they have no internet access and can not stock check warehouses unless they are open, which is a problem on weekends when you have a car torn apart and need definite answers. And as busy as this place gets, they need to adapt a modern cash register setup with scanners. The checkout process is VERY slow here. Because you never know how the store will be staffed, and sometimes will be completely ignored here, I no longer recommend this store. more

National Auto Parts 10/26/2008

This store has trouble keeping enough staff on hand during busy periods, and is nearly impossible to reach via telephone. The staff, while knowledgeable, sometimes will stop and answer phones while people are waiting...unfortunately this happens often, and I have walked out more than once due to this. And as for non-stocking parts, counter people do not have authority to stock check parts, and sometimes have to wait for management to call the warehouses. Once a great store, but needs new management badly. more

National 12/18/2005

This is the best place to buy auto parts, BAR NONE, they have a full team of gentlemen that are very knowledgeable in their fields. Not to mention they have a parts warehouse just down the road. So when they say they don't have it in stock and they will have to get it, they usually mean in about 10 minutes. Who could ask for more, not to mention they have it all, and yes I mean ALL. more
