I called this carriage company before we arrived for our trip and was told that reservations were not needed but to meet outside of the visitor center anytime. When we arrived, we found out that there is actually a clipboard that you must sign up on. This threw us for a loop with our two children as we had to wait another hour or so for the next available ride. It was well worth the wait.
Shana was our enthusiastic and knowledgable tourguide. She indicated that she went to UVA (smart) and grew up in Lexington. Thus, she could answer questions about the town that others may not be able to. She knew the prices of houses for sale and talked about the horses a lot. She also told legends of Robert E Lee. She did not talk too much about Washington & Lee or VMI...more about the town. We rode through the town and some residential sections.
The price of the tour was a little high and please note that a little sign on the carriage indicated that tips are appreciated. So have cash on hand. Request our tour guide!
