We received a jar of the Blueberry Jam as a gift from our neighbors and the only thing I can say is, it was BEYOND FANTASTIC. I want to buy more. more

My wife and I recently visited Kennebunkport and we loved the little town and all the local stores. We used our credit card everywhere we made purchases and we were never asked to show Identification until we entered Gibran. I had to wait in the store for 15 minutes while my wife went back to our room at the Kennebunkport Inn to retrieve an ID. I was wearing sunglasses when I arrived at the store, which I put on my head to try on a pair there. When I left the store wearing my own sunglasses, that same woman followed me to the door to see if there were any tags hanging from my glasses. It was so humiliating and embarrassing that 30 minutes later, I decided to return the items we had purchased. The clerk refused to accept the items back and she stepped aside to reveal a very small sign her body had been blocking that stated "All Sales are Final". I also heard her ask another customer if she could put the soaps she had bought into her hand bag so the clerk wouldn't have to supply her with a plastic bag. Gibran prices are not very competitive and their customer service is horrible. I will never shop there again and I will make a point of telling everyone not to waste their time and money at Gibran. I rate them less than "0". more

I was at the Gibran General Store several weeks ago and casually picked up a jar of the Strawberry Rubarb jam. It looked so cute and thought it would be a nice souvenir for our family. We got home, refrigerated it and opened it like a day later. What a SURPRISE! This stuff was like nectar from the Gods. I am a finicky foodie from NYC where "homemade" jams and jellies are readily available. There was nothing like this stuff. Absolutely delicious. This store could make a business out of selling their jams alone. I highly recommend this adorable little shop. Being from NY, I was cynical about the "Maine-made " jams but I was assured where they were made and sure enough it's in Maine. Very pleased with the atmosphere of the shop and all the little trinkets they have. more

Gibran Gifts and General Stores are a great place to go into. The gift store has souvenirs and gifts. The general store carries houseware items and Maine made foods. The fruit spreads are not fake as one review has stated. You can't get all fruits in Maine, the same as you can't get all ingredients in Maine for hot sauce. However these are all Maine made products. The bb spread is from Maine Blueberries. The fake review was written by local competition and should be dis regarded. Judge for yourself. Go into the stores. Have a sample. You'll see, it is the best fruit spread around because it is all natural and it is Maine made. Thank You. Debra. MA more

Yes we too love the blueberry spread. And for the last 3 years I have ordered it by mail. BUT it seems they really don't care about shipping their spread around the country because they don't appear to need the business. They make it difficult and expensive to order. You must order at least 6 jars, pay a lot of money for shipping, and they will only take a money order. Too much. Plus it wouldn't hurt to feel that they appreciate my business. We're from California and spent 2 terrific days last Sept in Kennebunkport. A beautiful town. We discovered Gibran General Store and brought home a jar of the BEST Wild Maine Blueberry Spread (jam w/out sugar) we have ever tasted. We were disappointed that they didn't have a website to order more from so we will call and beg them to send more. Thick, rich, and packed with those tiny blueberries. YUM! more

This old style general store sells a wide variety of Maine made products such as jam, crafts, and fudge. It is a very charming place, and you kind of feel like you have stepped back in time when you go in. They sell a little bit of everything. Stop in and check it out! more
