Frankenmuth has two restaurants that serve the famous fried chicken. All through childhood I went to the other restaurant, then tried the Bavarian Inn as an adult. I love it so much more! You can have it served family style, with an assortment of delicious sides. (My favorite is the buttered noodles). It's worth the 2 hr drive for me!

We have had many wonderful experiences at the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth.
We went before we had our son and it was very romantic. Now we go as a family. It has become a traidition to spend a couple of nights there every year before xmas.
We get a family suite and just have a ball.
They offer 5 different pools, the entire lower level is an arcade, putput golf, just to name a few.
Definately worth the money.

We visited Zehnder's over spring break this year and fell in love! Their all you can eat chicken dinner is a real treat. Its like a huge buffet brought to your table. The wait staff is dressed in Bavarian clothing and super polite! And the food is spectacular. There is a bakery and gift shop downstairs in their beautiful building. Make sure you check out their website for coupons!

What trip to Frankenmuth would be complete without a dinner at Zehnder's? Its a tradition with our family. We love the chicken dinners. And my daughter and I always order chicken livers! But we also love the chicken, dressing, gravy and everything else. And now you can take home the left overs, a real plus in my book. Yes the price is a lot higher than when we first started going in the 70's, but what isn't?
We would recommend eating there to everyone.

If you take a trip to Frankenmuth, you must visit Rau's Candy Store. The store is really neat, they sell a wide selection of gifts & paperweights, and they have a huge section of doll houses and accessories, but of course the main reason to go there is the candy! They have such a huge selection. You can pick out a variety of taffies, chocolates or hard candies that are charged by the pound, or you they have other novelty candies, pezz, rock candies, suckers etc.. My favorite is the Maple Sugar Candy. I love those. The prices can be a little high, but when you are shopping in Frankenmuth, all of the prices are high.

I love the old German feeling of the Bavarian Inn. Its hard to choose which I like better, Zender's or it. I love to watch the clock chime outside before I go into eat, that's fun. Then its off to dinner! And what a dinner you get. A chicken dinner at the Bavarian is unbelievable. So much food, and all of it so good. Yes the price has tripled since the first time we went back in the 70's, but so has everything else. But now, you get to take your leftovers home with you! That's a plus!
I would recommend Bavarian Inn to everyone who loves good food.

Whenever we go to Frankenmuth, we hit Rau's. They have a great assortment of candies and many items for the home. I collect old-fashioned tins and they have LOTS of them. They also have lace items that come in many sizes- from doily size to mantle to curtains. If you like things that will give your home a traditional decor, check them out. And if you are 40+, you will get a kick out of the candies you ate as a kid!
