I have driven by this place a couple of times and curiosity finally won me over.
The service - we were seated promptly and our waitress was pleasant and helpful. The people are friendly and willing to assist you questions.
The food - the sushi is fresh and delightful. The food portions for their entrees are big enough to be shared between two people or take home for later. I had the seafood Yaki Soba and I couldn't finish it all. There is even a large fish tank with a variety of shellfishes and eels in the middle of the restaurant.
The atmosphere - calm and relaxing (since we came before the dinner rush). The tatami rooms are very nice and great for large parties.

I have gone to this place for almost 10 years. This place is amazing. Newly remodled and now serving sushi too. It's a great family place or a romantic hot spot. I've done romantic dates, friends get togethers and family nights. My son (now 5) loves the place. We go often enough that he knows what's coming next in the show. Even if it looks horribly busy (which is does get) the wait time is generally not more than 30 minutes... sometimes faster if it's only a couple. And now that it's remodeled probably not as bad. The wait staff is nice, the chef's are enjoyable and all around you enjoy your experience. You never leave hungry and in my opinion the price is reasonable. Because my son can share I spend just as much there as I would if we went to a "casual" restaraunt because we would have to buy him his own plate. Use the "japanese a2" as they call it... it's great on all the meats, and I love it on my rice... Good time... try it out
Pros: Great for multiple reasons, events
Cons: Farther away now that i've moved

One of the few Japanese-owned Japanese restauraunts in town. The sushi bar is tucked away in the back. A wonderful atmosphere for visiting--my husband loves to banter in Japanese with the sushiya. Table seating and tatami rooms are available. The food is spectacular, but a little pricey.

This place is great if you love sushi. I'm still a newcomer to it, but it tasted very good here. I was able to get some help from the waitresses as to what I was ordering, and I got a very tasty dish. Fun place.

Tokyo Garden has been a family favorite for years now. They know us ALL by name and we don't even have to order from the menu because they already know what we like. Talk about great service. We celebrate any and ALL occasions here and always bring visiting relatives and friends to try it. it is, by far, the best japanese restaurant in federal way.

Most Japanese places don't give big portions and are pretty expensive. This place costs the same as most places but gives you a lot of food as well. The steak was very good and the miso soup was super tasty. Great place!

I'm fully convinced that the yakuza are going to shut this place down, as they are the ONLY teriyaki joint open on sundays that I know of. As for the teriyaki, it's as good as you'll find anywhere else (most teriyaki from strip malls is created more or less equal), but the real star of Ichi Teriyaki is the yakisoba. They give you a huge portion, with plenty of veggies, and it's probably the best yakisoba in Federal Way.
Pros: Open sundays!
Cons: Teriyaki is average
