A Most Inspirational Brunch at the Hotel Del... 4/18/2006

To answer Rich T.'s question... None of those places are great for Sunday Brunch. You want the best? You want something memorable? Something inspirational? Go to the Hotel Del Coronado's Crown Room Sunday Brunch! I must say, it is pricey. I believe it's just over $50 for adults and $10 for children. As much as I love children, please...when doing the Del for the first time, leave the kids at home if they can't be of age to appreciate this...for our sake, for your sake, and for their sake. The Hotel Del Coronado is just such a great place for brunch. The Crown Room is especially wonderful. I like to stand in the middle of the room and just look up. This isn't just any 'ol sunday brunch restaurant. The Crown Room is a historical monument. I dream about having a part of my own wedding festivities there on an autumn evening, with the faint sound of waves crashing along the Coronado shoreline. *Snaps out of it and shakes head* Okay! Now back to the brunch! Here's the Sunday Brunch Menu and the Crown Room website. http://www.hoteldel.com/uploads/crownroommenu_final_3_222.22_222.06_222.pdf http://www.hoteldel.com/dining/crown.asp Its greatness speaks for itself... more

Gorgeous 4/17/2006

I have not stayed at this hotel, but I have toured the property, grounds and beach and it really is a beautiful, historic hotel. It is a grand hotel set on a beautiful beach. The architecture is stunning and the inside if the hotel is full of character. The shops are very nice too. more

Big Bucks, Low Value 12/11/2005

This is beautiful hotel and location that will do its most to empty your pockets. Be forewarned that the pool and parking are not included in your rate. The staff will blithely add on the pool fee when you check in, to the tune of 140 bucks a week. This is a see and be seen place, great for people without limits on their budgets who enjoy mediocre dining at high prices. There is no taking away from the charm of the hotel itself, its just a poor value. The new addition we were booked into was no better than any modern hotel room for half the rate. The reviews on the old rooms make them sound more quaint than comfortable. There is little to do in Coronado, so this may be an ok place for a weekend getaway at best. Properties nearby are of much higher value. more

Amazing Hotel and Spa 11/12/2005

If I could rate this hotel higher than I five I would. The rooms are beautiful and always clean. The views from the hotel are incredible and most of them overlook the ocean. There is a lot of history behind this resort. We have stayed there a few times and it has been nothing but an enjoyable experience. The hotel also offers great shopping at the hotel as well as within walking distance. more

the nicest hotel i've visited 10/22/2005

This is by far one of the nicest hotels I've been to in San Diego. The rooms are great, and the cocktails they have are great. They have a huge martini menu (my favorite...the mimosa martini) as well as great food. Its fun to walk around exploring, as well as a romantic place to take your date for a walk on the beach or to sit and talk while listening to the waves crashing. Parking is somewhat of a pain, but its worth it when you walk around and are able to see the crown room all lite up. more

Beautiful historic by the beach. 8/21/2005

The is one of the finest hotels on the West Coast. It is one of the landmarks in San Diego that captures the tourists eye. It is one of the most elegant and beautiful buildings that I have ever seen. Anyone whose anyone visiting San Diego will be sure to stay here. There are restaurants and gift shops and decks to stroll about underneath the stars. The staff is exemplory and will bend over backwards to suit your needs. If you have the chance to stay even one romantic night at Hotel del, then you must. more

Red roof Hotel Del Coronado 8/7/2005

I am reserving one star because I have not yet experience any stays in this Hotel. I cannot lie to other viewers of this review for something that I have never experience myself. So, what are the full color stars I am giving for? They represent the harmonious atmosphere, the unique design of the architect, the traditions that being kept, and the cleanness. As being a tourist of SD, I was brought to see its rare view once at a very night while sitting in the car, but I was attracted in the dark by the huge cupolas which were made into ½ open umbrella shape. Then I knew I will visit her again later. A few months ago, I had a cup of warm coffee in the car while driving on the way home from Coronado in an evening. I decided to have my coffee somewhere in there. The sunset shade projected the cascade leaves' shadow on the ground like the celebrity’s red carpet led me a way to the front door of the hotel. The passion red roofs soon cascaded into my eyes and seemed very inviting. The mix of darker interior colors sedated the tiring travelers. The elevator in the corner of the lobby was the beauty of the antique and there was an assistant in there to operate it. I found a comfort spot right next to the imperial like design open bar sip my almost not warmed coffee when I enjoyed listening to the pianist play his songs and watched people dance in the dancing pound. I continuous ignored my tongue’s signal of needing hot coffee, I signaled back with a message to the tongue: they are just from starbucks. more

Coronado's finest 8/4/2005

If you're looking for elegance and history, this is the hotel for you. Beautiful surroundings located on exclusive Coronado, many stars and political figures have stayed here. Always top notch service and food. A wonderful place to have a wedding or stay for your honeymoon. Be sure and go to the Del duing the holidays! Every year the Del sets up a magnificent tree that has a different theme each year. It's spectacular and I make sure to visit just for an evening to view it. There are at least 3 restaurants in the Del and many gift shops to stroll through. The service is always outstanding, even during the holidays. If you're planning on heading to their lavish buffet on Christmas, be sure and call ahead for reservations. It's not exactly inexpensive but it's sure worth it, and the dessert table is magnificent. more
