IKEA - a great day trip! 4/16/2006

IKEA is full of value. It's not the IKEA of yesterday. The furniture is well made and sturdy, and the knick-knacks are of many decorating styles. The College Park IKEA has a great parking lot, easy to negotiate, with plenty of 'family' designated parking space in the front. When you walk inside, look for a catalog and a paper/map and pencil to write down what you find. They also have tape measures available. The drop-off kid's play area is a lot of fun, but it's limited to 1hour on busy days. They give you a beeper so you can be called back if your child needs you. Don't forget to stop and get a snack! The kid's meals are usually .99c, and the adults range from about $3 to $6. The food is great quality too. It's a great place to meet up with girlfriends and just SHOP, eat some lunch and SHOP. Don't forget the kid's section with toys and dinnerware up near the food area. It has some of the best values around! more

Great deals 11/15/2005

I love this Ikea, it is really clean and cool. This place is huge and very kid friendly! The bathrooms are stocked with a clean changing diaper area and diapers! There are little toys on the walls to keep the toddler's entertain. The prices are pretty good too and I love to see each room section and how things are displayed. There is two floors; one floor full of kitchen appliances, little things and the second is furniture. There is two eatery places one in the front of the store and a bigger one on the second level. This place is great for bargainers and children! more

Bad service 9/3/2005

My trip to IKEA in College Park was not a good experience. First, when we ordered our shelves to go in the wardrobe we just bought, they gave us the wrong thing. The drawers they gave us were in a box so we had not clue they had given us the wrong thing. When we got home and started to put together the wardrobe, I realized they had made a mistake and called to see how to correct it. The person on the phone wasn't very helpful, plus he lied to me and said I would get a discount for the inconvience (which I didn't get). So I drove back to IKEA in rush hour to get the correct product. I talked to the manager and she was very rude. I called my husband and he said that while putting together the wardrobe, it completely fell apart! What a mess. Bad service, rude managers, and poor quality products. If it weren't for their prices and the fact that it's all I can afford, I would never go back. more

Big black hole of homewares... 8/27/2005

I love this Ikea. I could spend hours walking around checking out the cool setups they have of model rooms. And of course buying way too many goodies for my apartment, but since things are so cheap one can afford to splurge. I recommend getting the catalog ahead of time so you can get a sense of what you're looking for- otherwise you could seriously spend an entire day, then sleep there over night and start in the next morning again... There's a cafe in the store that sells Swedish food at really low prices. The only downside is that it is not convenient to a metro, bt then again you're probably going to be hauling huge bags home so the metro wouldn't be feasible anyway! more
