We attended Village for one school year. In that year, there was a lot of turmoil: change in principal, disruptive students AND parents and an upcoming campus change. The philosophy is good (positive discipline, community atmosphere, small school) but there was something lost in the translation. Some teachers had trouble controlling the classrooms and support from the new principal was spotty (because she was new and part time, not because she didn't care). If the principal took firm control of the school and grasps its overall philosophy that's posted on their webpage, I'd have no doubt that they could be very successful. Unfortunately, from second hand reports of families (still friends of ours) who are still attending Village say it's still in transition. One of the main problems is that it is an alternative school where parent participation is required. That has lead to some parents thinking that this school could be suitable for students who have learning disabilities, discipline problems and the like. With those types of special needs students (which Village doesn't have the resources for), really slows down their forward progress into something positive.
