ABC replaced a capacitor for our Trane air conditioner and charged us $588!! That's on top of a $99 service call. A capacitor costs around $40 and the repairman spent no more than 20 minutes replacing it. When I complained to the repairman he said that he gets this all the time from other customers. I called ABC Client relations asking for a breakdown of parts and labor and they would not provide one. They would not budge on the repair costs and admitted that they are more expensive than others due to their high overhead costs. The repair was late on a Friday afternoon with hot weather forecast for the weekend. Clearly they recognized that we were desperate and took advantage of that. more

Cost outrageously high, work done well 6/24/2019

Summary: Price was outrageously unfair, 3 times the fair market price. Work was done well, and on the same day as requested -- but was it worth it? Details: Leaking faucet in the bathroom. Called three other plumbing companies, asking for service on same day; none was available. Called ABC, they said they could send someone on same day but didn't know when. Technician arrives, assesses that the faucet needs replacement. Doesn't have a faucet in his truck, but if I buy one he could install it right away. Cost estimate is $1440 with their own faucet, $969 if I buy it myself (bought one at Do It Best around the corner for $150). Technician does the work, takes about 50-55 minutes. I ask to see the details of the $960 charge, it has no items other than one 60-minute entry ($584) and another 30-minute entry ($385) adding up to $969. I say it's .. outrageous; he walks out to the truck and comes back in writing off the 30-minute charge; please notice that he hadn't worked for that time. Now I'm paying $584 for one hour of labor. Notice that this is their regular rate, not the same-day emergency rate. I ask to pay later and discuss the issue with the office, but I'm forced to pay right away. This is about 3 times as much as a fair plumber charges. The job was done well, relatively quickly, and especially on the same day as I needed it. Was it worth it? Not sure. more

Fantastic company 6/24/2019

Our normal company could not send somebody out for 4 days. ABC came out the same day and when the first technician was unable to solve the problem despite working on it for 2.5 hours he arranged for another to come out. Due to different equipment the second technician was able to rectify the issue within minutes. Despite the amount of time involved and the need for two visits from the company, there was no additional charge above what was originally quoted. ABC is definitely our company to use from now on for all services they offer. They got it done. more

A/C Spring Maintenance 6/5/2019

Chris S. and Paul T. arrived promptly this am. They were very friendly and knowledgeable as they worked both inside and outside our home. Chris required water on the outside of the house, however, I had not opened the faucet for outdoor gardening as yet. I admitted not having connected the faucet to the hose as I am losing strength in my hands. Chris was more than happy to put it all together. I also had some questions concerning being a Advantage Member. Explanations were clear and Chris was more than accommodating if I had other inquiries. We are new members and are definitely fully satisfied with ABC's services. more

Horrendous 5/18/2019

Install guys are great but customer service after the fact is through the floor. I spent over 10 grand on a new ac install with duct work and literally had to ensure all the scheduling happened myself. After half the work was done I had to jump through hoops just to get the second half done. And now after spending over 10 grand and ABC calling me to schedule an AC startup they don’t even have me on the schedule and have no idea what I’m talking about. Never again. Save your money and move on to anyone else but these guys. Worst mistake ever and I still have to pay for this crap. more

ABC service has become worse than a few years ago. they constantly cancel checkup appts on me even though schedule way in advance. being a advantage club member means nothing, my 3 week old $6,000 plus ac was not functioning properly was at 81 degrees when i got home at 12pm called and they said someone would be out that day , i opened my email 3 hours later by coincidence and they changed to next day without telling me because they only had two techs working.very inconsiderate and are not customer focused , should change membership to disadvantaged club. more

New Furnace and air conditioner 1/4/2018

Furnace went out on 26 December 2017, ABC installed a new one on 28 December 2017. Technician Dan Varinek was awesome. His attention to detail and professionalism was outstanding. His knowledge and willingness to explain what he was doing and why was the best I've ever experienced. Thanks, John Wagner more

ABC Plumbing 2/8/2014

Had to have a leaking toilet repaired. On the plus side, they were able to do the work later in the day that I called and the service technician was excellent. The work took 30 minutes and used probably $100 of parts.....and believe it or not the bill was $500. Crazy. And I was crazy not to find a more cost efficient plumber but needed it done as I will be traveling. RMC more

ABC was quick to set up a scheduled time (within 24 hours), prompt and professional. They were in and out within an hour of arriving, leaving me with an unclogged utility sink and all my questions answered. We will definitely use them again. more

Grossly Overcharged! 1/4/2014

I contacted these folks early on 1/2/14 to fix a tub faucet that would not shut off completely & address the slow drain. Jay was to call 30-40 minutes ahead to let me know he was coming & was to arrive between 11 & 3. At exactly 3pm as I was there phone in hand to cancel the apt my door bell rang. Jay seemed to be very polite so I allowed him to come in and look at the problem. At 3pm I did not want to start over finding a plumber & taking another day off work. He looked at the two problems and said it was a simple fix but need to go to his truck for 10-15 minutes to configure a quote. I offered to let him sit inside, but he insisted it was easier for him in the truck. He came back in with an estimate of over $719. I said "I thought it was simple that doesn't sound simple". With a smile he brushed my comment aside & said that it's not hard but those are the prices. Note; that was the lower price providing I join the advantage club @ 16.95/mo, the higher price was without was $944. The total time in home under 2 hrs with 45-50 minutes spent on paperwork & talk. The only part needed was the faucet cartridge which costs approx $30-$70. I paid in the area of $650.00 for about an hour worth of labor. After he left I started to look at the bill which was simply a flat fee, something didn't feel right. When my husband came home from work he discoverd water leaking in the basement. It was from the main water valve which Jay had shut off to do the work then turned back on. My mind flashed back to his showing me the valve, telling me it was an old style and how I should be careful it was not installed securely & if it ever broke we would have major expense. He also asked if my husband was handy. He is not handy but also not stupid. The valve was left all the way open when it was turned back on causing water to run on to the floor. Charges are being disputed I hope somebody at this company has a conscience. What happened to doing business fairly & honestly??? more

Hot water heater went out and had to make a decision 12/8/2013

Our hot water heater kept leaking so we knew that we needed to get a new one. Chris B. came out and showed us all of our options for replacement. He did not push one hot water heater over any other but stayed very factual and pointed out the pro's and con's. Due to his knowledge and nonbiased opinion, we went with the tankless hot water heater. Although it is significantly more expensive, Chris educated us on the long term benefits of getting this type of hot water heater. We waited to give our review until now to ensure that it was working up to our standards. Chris was so professional, had expert knowledge, was respectful of our home and showed patience while we were trying to make the best decision........under a bit of stress and the cost near the holidays. We have used ABC for plumbing and cooling needs and could not be happier! Great company, fairly priced and trustworthy!!! more
