They gave me very detailed explanations of all the procedures, so I knew exactly what was happening to my eyes the whole time. Everything, from the process to the building itself, was well organized. I've always been the type of person that has been just fine with getting my eye care at the run of the mill mall stores like LensCrafters, Binyon's etc. When I moved to Portland, I decided to try Couple of Eyes and I am so glad I did. I've done my fair share of shopping around for optometrists over the last 10 years, and I am so glad to have finally found a place that I trust and would recommend to others! Not only was Dr. Fan pleasant to talk to, she was extremely thorough in her explanations of what exams we were going to do and what each one was supposed to test for. She found a way to tell me things in terms I could understand, something that none of my other optometrists ever bothered to really do, which made me feel much more comfortable with the entire procedure. When she made a recommendation to switch to a different brand of lens or solution she told me exactly why and what I could expect -- and she was right! I am also very pleased with the other Couple of Eyes staff. They were familiar with the details of my insurance on my first visit and had all the documentation prepared for me ahead of time to review. Unlike other places where I felt the need to triple-check the invoice against my insurance policy at home to make sure no excess charges were added, I felt assured and confident when looking at the statements. The staff doesn't pressure you into buying exclusively from them and are genuinely interested in trying to help you get the best deal. Overall, the value of the service they deliver and the respect they show towards patients have really won me over. I definitely wish I had switched sooner! more

I am a patient at Couple of Eyes Vision Care and had a wonderful experience. The receptionist is very nice and helped me when I had questions. Also, both Dr. Yun and Dr.Shih are very friendly people that made my appointment simple and thorough. They do a good job on catching details and one thing I like about them is that they explain everything to make sure your eyesight doesn't get worse I would recommend them to all my friends! more

I wear bifocal contact lenses and have for over 10 years. My first visit to Couple of Eyes, they recommended a brand they were keen on that were toric and bifocal. They insisted this was the best. I wore them for a week and had a lot of discomfort. They never let me try another brand...just insisted this brand was the best. I never got a usable prescription for contacts after several visits. more

My husband and I went to this place to have our eyes checked by Dr. Fan. I've been to different eye doctors before and I have to say that Dr. Fan is by far the best one! She was very friendly, attentive, and really showed that she cared about her patients. She took her time to explain to us and answered all our questions. We will go back for sure for our next eye exam! more

I just went to Couple of Eyes a few days ago and found them to be not only professional but they had a great selection of frames. I would highly recommend them. As for beanachtai, last I checked photophobia isn't a disability, it's a ""condition"" which can easily be corrected by ... I don't know ... wearing sun glasses? Light sensitivity does not prevent you from doing work, therefore it is not a disability. The fact that benachtai is looking for legal recourse right off the bat calls their credibility into question. As far as I'm concerned the staff at Couple of Eyes were helpful and courteous. more

The Doctor's are friendly and professional. I was greeted with a smile from the technician at the front desk. Made me feel very comfortable. Everybody seemed to want to help me. From picking out stylish frames to getting the correct lenses. I would recomend them to anyone who wants to have an ongoing relationship with their eye doctor's. I've worn glasses for 15 years and visited many different optometrists. Without doubt, I can say that Dr. Shih and Dr. Fan are the best I have ever met. Both are highly skilled and take the time to explain their methods. Whenever I have a question, they answer me immediately and truthfully. If I have a problem, they will solve it without hesitation. Friendly, courteous and knowledgeable, these doctors empathize my concerns and provide a vision care experience unparalleled to any I have encountered in the past. The shop is amazingly neat and well maintained. Making an appointment is easy. There is a large selection of frames and lenses. Honestly, I wouldn't go anywhere else. more

Finding an optometrist has been a very difficult task for me. In the past, doctors give me a standard eye exam and find glasses that don't fit me. Pros: Cute boutique, cool styles, knowledgable doctors Cons: Wish they had more branches so I can send all my friends there! more

Dr. Shih and Dr. Fan are very professional and skilled, and extremely friendly to deal with. We are very particular when it comes to the selection of eye doctors because of our family health history. We wanted a doctor that paid close attention to the health of our eyes; and kept up with the latest eye care technology and research. We seem to have found that with Dr. Shih and Dr. Fan. Their eye exams are thorough; they explain things in terms you can understand so you can better manage the health of your eyes; and they work with you to find the best fit for contact lenses and glasses. In the past, I have felt the my eye doctors viewed me as just another patient number coming through the door -- the same exam, the same process, the same standard glasses. At A Couple of Eyes I knew I was in for a new eyecare experience the minute I walked in the door. The office is warm and inviting -- the exam rooms are comfortable, including personal touches that tell little stories about the doctors. Dr. Fan spent an adequate amount of time explaining her exam techniques and why they are important. She answered questions for me I didn't even realize I needed to ask. I traveled quite a distance to come to A Couple of Eyes on the advice of friends. Dr. Shih and his partner, Dr. Fan are the best eye doctors I've ever met. I've been wearing some kind of correction for my eyesight for over 30 years, and I've never had such caring and careful doctors. Dr. Shih doesn't just flip through a bunch of lenses and then throw together a pair of glasses. He really looks at your eyes. He asks about your lifestyle, he connects the health of your eyes to your overall health, he answers your questions in terms you can understand, and treats you like an adult. Then, they both take a lot of time helping you find frames that you can afford, that look good on you, and fit the way you live. Pros: You always see one of the doctors, not an assistant. Parking is easy. Frame selection is unique and attractive. Cons: A long drive from downtown Portland (but worth it) more

This is the first time I am writing a review. After visiting Couple of Eyes, I found myself more confident with my new contact lenses. I built trust with Doctor Fan and Shih after a few visits to they clinic and the friendly attitude made me feel warm like home. Dr. Fan was very Helpful with my exam and picking a frame. She was very sweet to my kids as well. Dr. Fan was very professional and fun with everything that we did. The Frames they have are very exclusive and fun. \r I enjoyed my time spent there alot. Dr. Fan spent alot of time helping me and also making sure i understand what was going on with my eyes. Dr. Fan's customer service was out standing. I look forward to going to my next eye exam. more
