I am totally surprised to read ANYTHING negative abou Dr. Yu or his staff. He is a wonderful doctor. Before moving to California, he took excellent care of my daughter, Skylar and since moving back to Sugar Land area, I made sure that he was the doctor of choice for my new son, Joshua. Since 2009 Dr. Yu and his staff have privided superior care for my little ones. I have never encountered any type of negative service. I am African American and have not had any poor or disrespectful service from anyone at Colongy Wellcare Ctr. Dr. Yu will be my chilren's primary care provider for many years to come.\r \r T. My name is Jessica. I was surprised when I incidentally saw the last comment to Dr. Yu's office. I myself was Dr. Yu's patient and my boy, one and half year old Nathan is his patient now. I can't believe that comment is true, as if that person who made comment somehow works for Dr. Yu, since she knows so much details. I haven't been in Dr. Yu's office for a while, since my boy hasn't been sick and his two year check up is next month. Just for my curosity, I called Dr. Yu's office to find out what's happening, as I feel unfair to him if this is not true. They were shocked when I told them what I saw on the internet and whey looked at it. Most of the staff were new to me now, but I can tell that they were angry. They told me that it most likely, if not hundred percent was done by the girl who was a part time college student, worked there not even one month, since the posting date was the date she was fired. It has been over seven years with Dr. Yu since I was his patient. With my two generations' experience, I just don't believe she said about Dr. Yu' staff is true, even though most of his staff are now new. I have never had problem with thire attitude, charges and payments, no matter when I had medicaid or have private insurance now. I would advice people/the girl (if you are the one fired) be honest and ethical, even if you are not happy working with some one or being fired. You are still young. Venting your anger in such a way wouldn't benefit yourself at all. Dr. Yu 's reputation and trust on his staff wouldn't be affected by those kind made-up comment. \r \r \r \r \r more

This is by far the most horrible office I have ever visited. The reception staff is the most unprofessional. There is a woman at the front who yells at patient s parents and insults them. She is very loud and rude to everyone, including her employees. I have only been there 4 times and each time I ve heard different things from her and different charges. She charges African American people more than Asian people. She is very racist and makes rude remarks in attempt to whisper them. I heard her say that the blacks are so mean and stinky . Her phone etiquette is absolutely horrid. She yells and tell people NO all the time or demands things from other doctor s offices in a very rude manner. Dr. Yu s is one of the most amazing doctors I have ever visited, and his nurse,I believe her name is Norma, is the sweetest and always apologizes for the front lady s behavior. Everyone at the front has such a horrible attitude that I could not go there anymore even though I would love my child to see Dr. Yu. I have had several problems with her with my insurance also. She doesn t know how to verify insurance properly and demanded that I pay $80 for a visit(which I did because the money isn t the issue) when my insurance clearly has written on it that it is a health fund plan and that I am not to be charged for anything until that health fund is reached, and even then I m not suppose to get charged, my insurance bills me after she sends in her billing. She argued with me that it didn t show up on the website, then when she pulled it up again it magically appeared, and even after that she still wanted to charge me because she didn t know how much money was left on the health fund, again if any of you have a health fund you know that if that health fund runs out your insurance bills you. So I payed anyway because I needed my child to be seen. After getting proof from the insurance I went back into the office and she started blaming the situation on another employee and yelling. This office is insanely unprofessional and I would strongly suggest that you do not go to this office. You re better off going to another pediatrician. I have attempted to write a review on their yahoo page but it kept getting deleted. Also, people who work at the office and the office manager's daughter is the one who writes all the good reviews on their page. more

Exceptional Care from Dr. Yu and his staff 2/28/2007

Our son was born prematurely in May of 2005, and when he was released from the hospital, we quickly choose a pediatrician. I ended up choosing a pediatrician based on referrals from family and friends. Our son had a nagging cold that never seemed to go away and week after week, the pediatrician would diagnose him with a cold that started as the first one ended. To make a long story short we spent the first 8 months of my sons life in and out of this particular pediatricians office and hospital emergency rooms. Last March our sons health seemed to be going downhill quickly. So we made one of our weekly middle of the night phone calls to our pediatricians office. This is probably the most important phone call we?ve ever made in our lives; our regular pediatrician was on vacation, so the on-call doctor returned our call. He advised us to take our son to the hospital immediately and to follow up with his office in the morning. It was this day that we met Dr. Yu. During this first week, we saw Dr. Yu every other day so that he could carefully monitor our sons progress. By the end of that week, he made a very important decision to admit our son into the hospital and he was FINALLY diagnosed with an infant form of asthma that was aggravated by a severe bronchial infection. The bronchial infection was the result of a cold that was never properly handled. Our son has been in Dr. Yu?s care for almost a year and he is 300% healthier than he was last year at this time. We are a Hispanic/Caucasian mix family and have built a wonderful relationship with Dr. Yu and his staff. I am completely confident in his competency as a doctor. In addition to his quality of care, I have NEVER been a patient of a doctor who will see you at a moments notice and Dr. Yu does just that. Anytime my HUSBAND or myself calls to make an appointment they accommodate us in a kind and prompt manner. I would and do HIGHLY recommend Dr. Yu to anyone I know with a small child. Pros: Attentive, Friendly and Great Knowledge of his specailty. more

Do not believe Scott Deaver's comment - by child's mother 2/12/2007

The previous comment is not true at all. I?m the mother of that girl. We are in the process of divorce and I?m living in the shelter with my daughter to avoid physical abuse by my husband. I am the only one who have been taking our daughter to Dr. Yu for her sickness and well baby check-up including immunizations. I choose Dr. Yu for my daughter is because he was awarded as the best pediatrician by SUN?s readers in Fort Bend and my church friends strongly recommended him. I didn?t provide my girl?s father?s information to the doctor?s office and instructed his office not to release her information to her father is just for the safety of my daughter, even though up to now her father is still legal guardian, too. He has never been in Dr. Yu?s office. The doctor?s office is responsible to protect the health information until they clarified the recipient and is authorized to release. Please do not be misled by that comment. I feel very sorry for any jeopardization to Dr. Yu?s reputation caused by him in anger to me. more

Avoid him if you're a father or Caucasian!!! 1/29/2007

Don't take your child to Dr. Yu if you are a custodial father or if you are not Chinese! I am the shared-custody (JMC) Caucasian father of a daughter whose mother is Chinese and hiding from immigration authorities in a Fort Bend County women's shelter. I was awarded equal custody (three days, four nights) in the temporary orders. I needed to get insurance for my daughter, and the mother and the shelter refused to cooperate with the judge's order (and Texas law) to provide the medical information required. I got Dr. Yu's name from a prescription he issued my daughter, and called him to get the information the insurance company needed (simply the date and the results of the wellness exam). He finally provided the date, but claimed the results of the exam were ""details"" and for that I needed a specific court order for that. My attorney called him to explain the law and the judge's ruling, and still he refused to comply. He has a contractual relationship with the sheleter, and has decided that realtionship is more important than my daughter's right and need to insurance and my rights under the law and under court order to have ALL medical information related to my child. He also seems to be prejudiced - other Chinese fathers have told me he has given them the same information without resistance.\r \r Beyond his legal ignorance, Dr. Wu is also medically incompetent. Any pediatrician knows the value of obtaining both parent's medical history to care for the child, but rather than take the opportunity to get my medical history he chose instead to endanger the child by prescibing medication for the child wiothout that history - all of this so tha he could pursue his agenda to serve the shelter rather than the parent and to close ranks with another Chinese, even though she is an illegal alien. more
