Wilbers Barbeque

I purchased a Barbecue Dinner from Wilber's and the barbecue was cold. I was very disappointed with my purchase. I thought maybe I went the wrong time of the day, So I gave them another try but I got the same results......go figure! more

We love Wilbur's Barbecue. We will go there every chance we get. In fact, my father will get some barbecue to take all the way across the state to Hickory. It is that good! more

Wilber's is a area Landmark in location and in Food. I remember eating there when I was growing up in the early 60's. I move back into the area and established my relation to barbecue again. All of the food is Great including the NC styled Brunswick stew which I highly recommend. The Staff and owner makes you feel right at home and as part of their family. If you want a place to eat barbecue, this is the place. Wilber Shirley is still running the Resturant operations and supervising the Pit Cooking of the pigs. The atmosphere is old country with the pine paneling and the ladder back cane seat chairs, even down to the red checkered table cloths. Others have tried to copy but fail in the attempt to be like Wilber's. I suggest to take your family here and eat Family Style, it will be something to remember for all. Excellent service and customer care is given to all who dine there. Elderly and kids are always welcomed and enjoy the food, atmosphere of down east NC living. I have been to Wilbers many times, everytime I have been, all of the staff were pleasant, the food was brought out qiuckly and it was delicious. I think that some people go to WILBERS expecting the BBQ to be smothered in BBQ sauce, but WILBERS BBQ is a spicier BBQ, with no BBQ sauce. It is still yummy. Thier BBQ RIBS, FLOUNDER, POT. SALAD, HUSH PUPPIES AND SWEET TEA ARE ALL HOMEMADE and VERY TASTY. The relaxed atmosphere is also comforting. Seasonally there are produce stands in front of WILBERS, so you can also grab some fresh, local, fruits and veggies on your way out. more

Marsha in the other review went once. As someone who has been to Wilbur's many times over many years, I can attest to their awesome service and food. This is a place where presidents and leaders come because it is THAT good. more

Sorry, but I have to disagree with all these people in eastern NC that recommend Wilber's BBQ. We stopped while out riding around Sunday and it was not what I have been told. I found the service really bad. The bbq was cold and it had a funky taste and smell to it. I couldn't eat it - when you've been to the finest here in eastern NC, this is a huge disappointment. more
