The best. Stop looking. 6/10/2011

Wayne's is the best in South Eastern CT. I grew up in North Jersey and every two weeks my father would bring me to his old fashioned barbershop, where the men would sit and talk about their women and their woes. It was the sort of place your grandfather used to frequent. Well I've spent the last three years that I've been stationed here (Sub base) looking for a shop with a military eye for detail and a bit of that old nostalgia. There are plenty of franchise places that will leave a nasty transition line in your fade, and if you're in the military, you know you can get 90 seconds or less worth of attention at the ""factory"" place in the NEX. Wayne's is certainly a modern take on that old barber shop setting but he and his crew are the most detail oriented barbers you can fine within an hour's drive. The price is less than what you would pay at an overpriced franchise, and the perfection you'll get is unmatched. Wayne's crew of professionals take pride in their work and they have fun while they do it. I wish I had found this place years ago. BTW, bring cash or suffer the ATM fee, and avoid the evening rush. I've waited over two hours with as many as twenty people or more in front of me. more

The only place 12/29/2008

My husband and son having been going to Wayne's Barber shop for about 8 years. To be honest it's the only place my son will go. We have tried other places but no one and no other shop compaires. The barbers and the people have great personalities, music is playing but not too loud, everyone jokes and tells stories and they all make you feel welcome. My son is 8 1/2 and he loves going to wayne's for a hair cut. Pros: The barbers are awsome Cons: people who don't know how to controll their kids in a public place. more

This IS the only place to go! 12/14/2008

Best barbers in the area. Very friendly bunch. Over the past 4yrs they have all cut my hair at one time or another and they're GREAT! It's a fun shop. Kudos to Wayne, Linda, T., Jon, Kathy, Juan, & Beth!!! Pros: excellent service all around, comfortable waiting chairs, clean shop more

Not kid friendly 12/9/2008

Here is my story: I came in at 4:45pm with my 2 ? year old son to get his haircut and waited patiently. During this time my son was fairly well behaved asking lots of questions, squirming in his chair and did make some faces in a mirror. At 5:15pm my wife arrived with my 5 year old son and they had little scuffle over who would get their hair cut first. Wayne turned around amidst his booming club music and yelled ?Boy?s settle down.? to the less than 75 lbs. combined weight criminals. I smiled and told them they would have to leave if they couldn?t act right. Before we had the chance to talk to them he barked ?Mam you need to get your children under control!? I honestly thought he was kidding until he started appologizing to someone sitting in a chair about our behavior. I looked at my wife and her expression said it all. We both got up and addressed him in stereo. We told him he was being unreasonable and would not be returning to his shop. He smurked and has nothing to say, big surprise.\r The shame is that there are good barbers at Waynes, he is not one of them. Many of them were probably there when it was called John?s and they will probably be be there when he is gone. The bottom line is this is not a kid friendly or anybody friendly establishment when the owner is in the shop.\r Pros: If you go in during the day you can avoid the owner. Cons: Nice hard-working people work for the owner. more
