The Worst 4/15/2012

I totally agree with richardj123. I don't know this place received 4 stars, because it was very disappointing. The New England Clam Chowder wasn't good & had one clam. I ate better (Outback). The salad wasn't good. The waiter took forever & a day to take our dinner order. I ate better calamari (Locale's on 34th Ave, the best), so again the calamari sucked. I ordered Surf N' Turf - the lobster tails tasted like I was eating cardboard, at least the steak was prepared medium like I ask. My husband order crap legs that were over cooked and look like the gave him the scraps. We didn't even stay to have dessert, we just wanted to get outta there. I will never go there again or recommend this place to anyone. Honestly I could have had a better meal @ Red Lobster's. more

went down the drain.. shame to call restaurant... 3/27/2012

..my daughter took me for my birthday .... was very disappointed with food we ordered ... place wasn't crowded took for ever to serve .. our waiter look like on drugs mass-up our the order ... as for food the only think we enjoyed was clam-chowder soup then we have crab-legs ... uhh taste like rubber over cook very salty, then our BBQ-ribs and BBQ-chicken arrive yes look very delicious but once we tasted I lost my appetite chicken was very dry and burned, lobster over-cook .. onion rings very gummy i think they use frozen onion rings as for desert was ok ... I have been to that place many times i do remember service and great food way back .... was always fun to return .... but last dinning was very disappointing :( more

VERY DISAPPOINTED 3/21/2012

My favorite restaurants are seafood. I usually eat out three to four times a week. I have my favorites and I like to try some place new, for me. This is the WORST seafood restaurant I have ever been to!!! The decor and staff are pleasant. The salad really cold and dressing cheap and bottled. The food tasteless !!! I asked about the Tuesday special advertised on their website for $15.95. They came back with a menu for $19.95. I informed staff this was our first time at their restaurant and it was my Fathers 82 B'day. I usually order a dish that I do not make at home. I ordered the stuffedl trio and asked the waitress what was the fish stuffed with, she said crabmeat. The meal was so flavorless I asked for more lemon just to give the food some flavor! Even the red potatoes had no flavor. The crab cake stuffing 99% bread and flavorless.. My son ordered the crab and pasta with marinara, he had a hard time getting the meat out of the very small crabs.. The crabs were so small with no meat and the sauce was disgusting! Bottled sauce taste better. I asked the bus boy to have our server come to the table. She never came. I had to find her just to get the check. I told her my son HATED HIS MEAL ! The stuffing was all bread I tasted no crab. My Father was happy with his meal. We left in frustration and still hungrey! The Server did come to see how we liked our food when we first received the dishes. I said it was good. Did not want to dampen the occasion. A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!! THERE ARE SO MANY GREAT RESTURANTS IN QUEENS THE WATERFRONT CRABHOUSE IS NOT ONE OF THEM! more

A shame 7/10/2010

Great Place, even better food, only one issue.. The MANAGER WAS NASTY AND RUDE! We asked for a table and she ignored us for about 15 mins and when she finally came over she had an attitude and gave us a crap table. After we asked for a better table she told us "" No I have reservations on all the tables"" and walked away.. Very rude and nasty.. Pros: good food cheap prices Cons: RUDE Manager more

Love LIC !! 5/18/2010

I recently moved into the 11101 zip and I just LOVE it here. Our family left Manhattan last year & we have had a ball visiting all the shops and restaurants in LIC & the crabhouse did not disappoint us at all. It is family friendly with a childrens menu & they give the kids crayons and a placmat to draw on (let the hostess know if you need a hichair since they are limited & putting a stroller in busy isle is not smart !! fyi). My husband had oysters and clams for a starter and they were seriously fresh, my sister started off with spicy shrimp and that to was great as well as scooping up the sauce with garlic bread ! for dinner i had cut up lobster in black bean sauce...if i was not in public i would have licked the plate ! my husband had the sirloin and said it was like butta' & my sis had king crab legs that were huge and the most delicious thing i have tasted. & my brother in law had the Garlic crabs, that to was fresh with a great buttery sauce. We had a pitcher of Sangira, ok we had 2 but we were walking. Last week my husband and I got out w/o the kids and we sat outside ( first come first serve outside) had a bottle of wine, oysters, clams and king crab legs it was so relaxing !!! cant wait to go back.\r friendly staff, fresh seafood, tender steaks all at fair prices. Note: this place gets busy on the weekends so make a reservation or just relax at the bar, have a drink and wait for your table or just eat at the bar ! either way put this one on your ""go-to"" list for the summer.\r Pros: laid back, comfortable, friendly, fresh seafood Cons: long wait with out a reservation more

Our family Holiday Place! 2/19/2010

Before trying the Waterfront Crabhouse I read the reviews here. Very mixed but the bad ones seemed to be from 2006 and I've heard good things about the place...so I tried it! Went there for Xmas eve with about 20 family members including kids! WHAT A GREAT PLACE! Everyone truly enjoyed their dinner and raved about the food, the service was perfect, the staff was very accomodating to all of the kids AND SANTA WAS THERE! They gave all of the kids gifts! We took pictures! It was wonderful! Went back for Valentines Day...again the food was great! I had Shrimp FraDiavlo (not on menu but recomended by waiter) that was out of this world!!!! We're going back to Easter...I hear the Easter Bunny will be there! I love this place! Pros: The perfect family restaurant more

Eat Well without having to empty the Wallet 2/17/2010

Listen, I'm one of those guys that often eats himself out of house and home. I just like everyone else likes to hit the town and eat 'till I can't stand straight. Problem is I can't afford to do that as often as I'd like to; and partly because it's difficult going out with our young boy at times. But here's a couple of secrets for you: Your'e not gonna break the bank eating here and the food is pretty good and the place is pretty laid back. Chicken parm in a crabhouse? Hell yeah, it's the size of the plate for god sakes. The size of the prime rib is ridiculous, try ordering that cut in Manhattan and not have to take out a loan to eat it. Their mushroom dumplings are slammin', and the burgers are huge!!! My favs are the king crab legs and the cajun peel 'em shrimp. Dig the place because the place is casual, and my son likes to grab the peanuts from the tub in the front; the hostess gives him crayons and butcher paper to keep him occupied long enough for my wife and I to order an appetizer or two in relative peace. Every time I go there I find myself looking at the different antiques signs or staring at all boxing gloves that adorn the the walls. There's some cool boxing history in there. All in all a good place for a casual dinner. Pros: You're not going to go broke when ordering from the menu more

A FUN, FUN, FUN PLACE TO EAT GOOD, GOOD, FOOD 2/17/2010

I have been going to the Waterfront Crabhouse for over 20 years and have never had a bad experience. I love the live music on the weekends, love the atmosphere, and love the martinis. I have tried almost everything on the menu. My favorites are definitely the King Crab Legs, the Shrimp Cocktail (best shrimp I ever had), the shrimp dumplings, and the great cheese burgers!!! Yes they do serve my favorite cheese burger!!! I have recommended the Waterfront Crabhouse to many people, which they have all enjoyed. So go experience the ""Waterfront Crabhouse experience"" and come back here and write your review. I am sure you would agree. Pros: LIVE MUSIC, VALET PARKING, GREAT CRAB LEGS, SHRIMP, AND MORE Cons: THERE IS ONLY ONE OF THEM. more

Diamond in the Rough 2/5/2010

My family and I have been regulars at this restaurant for over 20 years. Located in Long Island City's Industrial Park, stepping into this restuarant is like walking into a museum with all the antiques and memorabilia. While your eyes feast on art everywhere you look, you enjoy a feast of food as the portions are hearty. Along with a wide variety of crabs, King Crabs, Blue Claws prepared with garlic and herbs, and, seasonaly, soft shell and stone crabs, you can get the best prime rib in town. The hamburger is quintessential and the best deal if you're low on funds. On the weekends they have music which tops off their uniqueness. There is no restaurant like it. Pros: Great Atmostphere and hearty dishes more

great prime rib 1/27/2010

found this place by accident with my husband. Hung at the bar (if you like boxing this is the place ) and had a really nice time! My husband had the biggest Prim Rib I have ever seen and i had a really good burger !! We were going to have a pitcher of beer but the bartender suggested Sangria..huumm on a cold Sunday..but it was well worth it and we drank the whole pitcher (we were walking). nice relaxing, family feel & we will going back for super bowl sunday. Pros: good atmosphere, friendly Cons: a little out of the way more

Good Atmoshere 9/15/2008

This restaurant is nice. It has live music and great prices!!!! The food was very good and the service was great. Our server was very nice, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Great place to dine. Love it more

ok but not worth it 7/22/2008

The decor and area is excellent for a nice night out because it is right by the boardwalk and you get a beautiful view of Manhattan. The decor of the restaurant is really cool, memorabilia all over the walls unfortunately that is where it all ends.\r Made a reservation and the hostess tells a few minutes which winds up being 30 minutes. What was the point of the reservation? The waiter's are in a rush so when they do come with food they kind of just throw the plate on your table, even dropping the plate on a lady at another table.\r The entree took about 25 minutes to come and the rude waiter was not helpful in explaining the dishes to us. Overall all of this doesn't bother me just as long as the food is delicious.\r I order a platter that had a lobster meat the size of an ice cube, salmon steak a little bigger than the lobster and 4 pieces of shrimp that were cut in half to give the appearance of 8 pieces. On top of that my date had undercooked pasta with ragu sauce. The food is expensive and certainly not worth it, I would stick with Red Lobster!! Pros: great setting Cons: long wait to be seated, for food, and service period; food not worth the price more

greatest hamburger ever! 11/18/2007

ok so i know it is called the crab house... and ive tried the crabs and they are great.. so is the lobster, and the shrimp and the salmon.. and anything else fishy you can think of... i frequent there a lot since i live nearby...\r yesterday we had lunch there and we had hamburgers.. oh my god.. this was the best most juiciest hamburger i have ever had.. .and the fries were great..\r This place is one of a kind... do you know that quote... ""one mans junk is another mans treasure""... thats what the walls look like... all antiquey stuff that is soo much fun too look at. when you walk in they have a boat ( literally) filled with peanuts that you can grab a bowl and a beer and hang out til your table is ready.. then you sit and have some good drinks... realllly good drinks... and then the food comes.. and its all just really good. great staff, great parking ( valet), and just a good time.. even live music on saturday night. Pros: best food Cons: little bit of a wait.. more

Crabs! Crabs! Crabs! Avoid At All Cost. 8/15/2006

Eating at the WCH was a horrific experience. First off, since we were a party of 10 and because the service was included in the bill, it was abominable. Why? Well, it took 15 minutes for the waiter to come by and take our drink order, then another 10 minutes to bring our drinks, and then another 1520 minutes to take our dinner order, and when he finally did he was unpleasant. He huffed and puffed when asked what the side dishes were and when asked to repeat himself, he grimaced as if it pained him to open his mouth.\r For the appetizer we ordered the calamari and it was really gross. It was chewy and flavorless and it tasted like a shoe. In-between the first course and the main course our waiter did not come by once to ask us how we were doing or to refill our drinks. So 20 minutes later, our main courses came and they were EXTREMELY unsatisfying. The surf n turf that my girlfriend ordered was an unsightly scene. The lobsters were paltry in size (about the size of a medium sized shrimp) and had absolutely no flavor, they could have been frozen for years for all I know, and the filet mignon was totally flavorless. The crab cakes were a better lot but not by much. My sisters $50 dollar lobster tail looked much healthier but when nibbled on; it too was bland and gummy. Come to think of it, everyone thought their food was just bad. The side dishes were just as bad. Mostly everyone at the table ordered the fried zucchini, which came with a splattered on marinara sauce and had no flavor other than grease. I ordered the onion rings which I was told were freshly battered and prepared, but which came out burnt and seemed more akin to those one would get a White Castle. Uggg! \r So the bill came to $340 which is quite cheap for 10 people. We would have had a better dining experience at McDonalds! How can a restaurant serve such bad food? \r It was the most UNPLEASANT restaurant experience I have ever had. Please, stay away! Cons: All more

Great crabs! Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty! 8/1/2006

I'm a local, and love coming to this place for some soft shell crabs with garlic butter sauce and old bay seasoning (on the side). While you wait for the crabs, there's a bath full of peanuts which keep you somewhat entertained and hunger at bay as you smell all the delicious food that people are being served.\r Once the crabs arrived, it sure took time to plow through the oh so reasonably priced and oversized portion, but well worth the effort and the service was great! Don't forget to dip the herb crusted bread sticks that they give you in the seasoning - yum!\r The easiest way to get there if you're coming from Manhattan is to take the Water Taxi from 34th Street, just a few steps away from the Crabhouse! Or if you have a good sense of direction, the 7 train is pretty close too. \r Makes a great day out as once you're finished dining on crabs what better way to spend the rest of the afternoon/evening than having a few beers at the Water Taxi Beach - a totally hidden treasure! more
