My mother has been a resident since August 2010. Curtis and the rest of the staff have been amazing. They treat my mother with respect and care. I know she is safe and well cared for when I am not there. more

My mother has been at Waldon Woods for almost 5 years. I agree that the previous Administrator left a LOT to be desired. When I visited my mom over the holidays I met the brand new Administrator - WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Heidi is kind, compassionate and really has a great handle on improving the facility. She was gracious enough to rearrange her busy shedule to meet with me on almost zero notice. We sat down to discuss my mom's 2009 rate increase and, after an incredibly productive and informative meeting, Heidi reduced the increase by $300. There is NO way that would have happened before. WALDON WOODS IS AN AMAZING PLACE! A PLACE WHERE PEOPLE CAN PUT THERE LOVED ONES TO LIVE AND TRUST THAT THE EMPLOYEES WILL MEET THERE NEEDS! WELL WALDON WOODS HAS BEEN IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD FOR SOO MANY YEARS!! MY AUNT HAS BEEN THERE PROBABLY ALMOST AS LONG AS ITS BEEN THERE! SHE LOVES HER JOB AND GOES TO WORK WITH A SMILE ON HER FACE BUT HOW IS SHE SUPPOSED TO KEEP THAT SMILE ON HER FACE WITH PEOPLE LIKE THESE ONES BASHING IT AND TALKING ABOUT HOW TERRIBLE IT IS. IM 16 YEARS OLD AND IM JUST ITCHING TO GET A JOB AT WALDON WOODS BECAUSE I REALLY KNOW WHAT GOES ON BEHIND THE SCENES. THE EMPLOYEES ARE HARD WORKING ALL OF THEM AND TOGETHER THEY MAKE A WONDEFUL TEAM, BUT IN THE WORKING WORLD WE ALL HAVE TO KNOW THAT YOU CANT MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY SO FOLLOW THE RULES AND DO THE BEST YOU CAN, AND THATS WHAT THE EMPLOYEES AT WALDON WOODS DO. THEY FOLLOW THE RULES AND DO THE BEST THEY CAN!! BUT THEY ARE BY NO MEANS PERFECT AND HOW CAN YOU EVEN EXPECT THEM TO BE....WHAT HAS THE WORLD COME TO? IF YOU HAVE SUCH A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THE WAY THE EMPLOYEES AT WALDON WOODS WORK THEN YOU SHOULD BE OUT GETTING AN APPLICATION THERE INSTEAD BEING ONLINE TALKING NON-SENSE THAT ISNT EVEN TRUE! IVE MET THE RESIDENTS AT WALDON WOODS AND IVE SPENT TIME WITH THEM AND THEY ALL SEEM PRETTY HAPPY WITH THE PLACE! AND GALE YEAHH SHE TALKS ALOT BUT SHE STILL HAS IT IN HER HEART TO MAKE HER RESIDENTS HAPPY!! AND FOR YOU TO CALL HER MISLEADING AND MISREPRESENTING YOUR SUCH A HYPOCRIT! MY ADVICE TO YOU IS GET A LIFE!! AND STOP TRYING TO RUIN EVERYONE ELSES TO MAKE YOURSELF LOOK BETTER! AND INSTEAD OF ASSUMING YOUR SO CALLED ""LOVED ONES"" ARE BEING WELL TAKIN CARE OF TRY ASKING THEM AND HEAR WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY!! WALDON WOODS IS A WARM WELCOMING PLACE AND IS IN ALOTT OF NEED OF EMPLOYEES FOR ANYBODY WHO IS LOOKING FOR A JOB!! THE RESIDENTS ARE SO KIND!! Waldon Woods is by far the worst Assisted Living Facility in the Grand Rapids Area. The administrator is misleading and misrepresents the level of care they can handle at that facility. The residents that live there are not safe, the security and well being of the residents is compromised due to the level of care the administrator states she has and what she truely lacks realistically. Recently the facility had a resident leave unnoticed by staff and was in a ditch for the night until found the next morning, it was profiled in the Grand Rapids Press. This is not the first incident of this happening, but the administrator will not admit to that. If you are considering putting your loved one at Waldon Woods, please reconsider other alternatives. Again, the administrator is very misleading and it could easily lead to a dangerous situation. Cons: Staff are not well equiped to handle the level of care at this facility. more
