Ok, we were looking for an alternative to Brookfields, since there are not too many decent breakfast establishments in the Capital Village area. The Waffle House has a decent menu and the prices are decent. The waitressess were friendly, yet they all looked like Raiders fans, despite wearing 49er gear this particular day. Lets just say they probably go through eyeliner and Aquanet by the gallon.
My wife ordered the strawberry waffle and she really enjoyed it. The OJ we both ordered tasted fresh squeezed, which was good. I was going to order a mushroom, spinach and jack omelet. To my surprise, it wasn't on the menu. All the omelets were $8.95 and there were several that were jam packed with ingredients. There was a mushroom and jack omelet, again for $8.95. I figured I could just add spinach at no charge, since there were other omelets with bacon, ham, sausage, peppers, spinach, onions and more...for the exact same price. Anyways, the waitress tried to squeeze another $.75 out of me to add spinach. That kind of crap turns me off. I opted for a full order of biscuits and gravy, which was filling, but could have used more sausage in the gravy.
Ambiance was 3 out of 5. Its your typical cookie cutter, lower middle class breakfast joint. I didn't mind it, don't get me wrong, just reporting what I saw. It's not as nice as Brookfields. (Not being paid or compensated by Brookfields by the way...they are my only basis for comparison in this area).
PROS: Large portions, friendly staff, decent food.
CONS: Seedy location (hold your purse tight when walking in the parking lot), nickel and dime you for substitutions.
