Went with someone who is a regular. I had high expectations and they were fulfilled when it came to the food. I though the Sashimi was first rate. The service however was a joke. I practically had to tackle the wait staff to get their attention. The staff seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than working the tables. I don't demand complete attention but when you are w a i t i n g for them to notice you it gets very frustrating. I would go back and give them another try. It might have been a bad night - or the place might be so popular that they feel like they don't have to try. Pros: Great sashimi Cons: Poor service more

the service is great and the place is cool - but the sushi isn't as good as some other sushi places we've been to. their specialty rolls are small and expensive, for what you get. more

My new regular joint! 3/26/2003

I live just a few blocks away and frequent quite often. They have a pretty good happy hour and great sushi. I love the spicy eggplant appetizer and the salads--great for the price. The best part about the place is the wine list. Really great selections on wine that actually go with sushi (Reislings, etc). I think most bottles are under $30, some a steal if you know anything about wine! What can I say, when I don't know where to go, I always head there. more

I guess I'm the exception 8/16/2002

I actually have no complaints about the service. My waitress was pleasant, my food arrived on time and it was even relatively busy in the restaurant. I've had better sushi for the price and the chairs are horribly uncomfortable (and cold), but overall I had an enjoyable experience. Pros: good sushi Cons: cold/industrial more

Greatest new sushi bar in Venice. Fresh fish, excellent menu for non-sushi lovers. Ribs are amazine as is the boullabaise. The back room is excellant for parties, I've already been to a few there. Pros: Great Street, Super fresh fish, Casual/comfortable more

I had such high hopes for this restaurant. I practically watched it being built. Boy was I disappointed. Things started off OK. They had my reservation right and I was promptly shown to a table. It was all down hill from there. My friend and I waited well over an hour for our food. It wasn't even that busy. They could have at least brought one of our rolls over for us to snack on, or they could have offered us complimentary miso or edamame. That didn't happen. They did bring our sake, but we were looking forward to enjoying sake WITH our meal. When our food finally arrived, the yellowtail was not fresh. The tempura batter on our soft shell crab roll was very undercooked. It was actually still dripping if you can believe that.
