Great food, Generous Portions, Waitstaff off the short bus 2/7/2009

Highly recommend making reservations since the place was packed on a Saturday night (we did OpenTable and sat right away). Waited for 15 minutes while the dead-behind-the-eyes waitress walked by our table nervously glancing at us. We finally received our delicious drinks (dirty martini, margarita, wine - all reasonably priced) & some amazing mouth-watering bruschetta - freshest tomatoes drizzled with balsamic reduction, I was drooling. But before we were half way done the entrees arrived - little to no apology from said waitstaff. Thankfully our meals were 1000x better than the service. One friend ordered 2 huge pork chops that Fred Flintstone would appreciate, cooked to perfection; the other ordered the HUGE baked penne - also delicious. I ordered the swordfish with risotto - so great that I forgot about how badly I wanted another martini. Definitely recommended for excellent food and drinks - but maybe on a weeknight the service will be better if it's not as busy. Pros: Food, Cocktails, atmosphere Cons: Our waitress more

Excellent Quality and Portions!!! 1/27/2009

The customer service was great and the food prepared very well. The wait staff made sure to answer all questions and was very attentive. I was with a group of 10 and every person felt as though the waiter was helping only them. You should go with a hearty appetite because you do want to tatse something from each course. Pros: Great Value, Delicious food more

Real Food, Done exceptionally well. You will not be disappointed 12/25/2008

Beautifully written menu's. Great entrance and greetings. Rich and comfortable decor. Friendly waitstaff. and above superb food. I do not believe these people missed a step. It was perfect from beginning to the end. This is very hard to find. Especially from someone that is in the business. Pros: Food done the way that I expected it to be done!!!! more

Very satisfied of my experience (and when I eat out of New York City I can hardly say so). more

Vintage is back and better than ever! 12/4/2008

I used to frequent Vintage when it first opened. I found the prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and level or service they offered. It was a great alternative to the stress and cost of driving into and parking in the city, both for casual nights and special occasions. I was a frequent customer at the bar, and enjoyed my time with the bartenders (Brian, Holly and Tricia were my favorites!). However, I was disheartened to witness the decline in both the menu and service as well as the departure of some of my favorite staff over the years. The increased pricing with smaller portions was also a huge let down. That being said I was more than a little curious and even more tentative to revisit it when it reopened this fall. I'm glad that I did! Though the interior has not changed, the menu and ambience have. I am used to a very high caliber of service so found the waitstaff to be a bit rough around the edges, but was thrilled to see one of my favorite bartenders had returned! I popped in for quick drink and bite to eat. I was excited to see a decrease in drink prices! The menu is less presumptuous, which will fare better for the area. The tuna tartare appetizer was delicious and Tricia remembered my drink without my having to ask! Gone is the valet parking and overwhelming wine list. In it's stead there is a more comprehensive menu with fair prices and staff who make you feel comfortable. I am excited to rekindle my ""relationship"" with Vintage and look forward to returning again! Pros: Comfortable atmosphere, attentive staff and wonderfully revamped menu! more

New York feel! 11/23/2008

All I can say is WOW. Pros: ambience, service, wine list, food Cons: location, prices, parking more

A reason to visit West Roxbury 11/23/2008

In general, I don't take the time to write a review for a restaurant, even if it left a good impression on me and my wife. Nevertheless, since the re-opening of this classic restaurant, the quality of service has gone up while the price tag has dropped, which is truly a breath of fresh air in this economy. Their wines are exquisite, but it is the way it all comes together as a meal that leaves one with such an uplifting experience. Any of their veal dishes, try it. more

V for Vintage (and not for Vendetta) 11/18/2008

The best place in the area. Great environment and excellent service. Food is great both in taste and presentation. Very good prices. Bar is also excellent as well as the lounge with the fireplace. Awesome wine collection and a very nice private wine room. Overall a must go restaurant !!! more

Highly recommended 11/11/2008

This is definitely one of the best restaurants in the Boston area. Highly recommended if you like good food! Pros: food, service, wine more

Excellent food, incredible ambiance.... 11/10/2008

We ate there last week and haven't stopped talking about it. It was a Wednesday evening, the parking lot was almost full, and once we got inside almost the entire restaurant was packed, I was impressed because thru it all we only had to wait 5 or 10 minutes for a table. The bar was well run, a plethora of wines and the staff was friendly. When we were seated the waitress was very sweet and informative. We ordered a few appetizers and our entree. Pros: wine list, food, price Cons: You have to circle around on the VFW parkway to get to it more

  • Holding down the fort along West Roxbury’s crossroads, Sofia’s charms lie squarely in its satisfying food and classic, casual steakhouse atmosphere. Within a cavernous open-plan interior, clever sectioning with lots of dark mahogany paneling gives a warmly intimate vibe. Especially cozy is the area around the fireplace, which can be closed off to create a private dining room. The food adds extra comfort with Italian classics such as seafood fra diavolo or osso buco, twists on New England fare like the Sam Adams steamed mussels and even a touch of olde England in a filet mignon and wild mushroom-stuffed beef Wellington. Of note is the crab cake, made with all crabmeat and no filler, perfectly pan roasted and served with citrus aioli and seaweed salad.
