Colonial Mall 4/14/2006

For the size of the town Colonial Mall is an appropriate size but for the population of the town the mall is much too small. They're working on it though. They recently added an entirely new wing and they are putting stores on the outside, like a sidewalk mall. I am used to Atlanta malls so it still bothers me that the department stores only have one floor but I'm getting used to it. They are definitely trying to get more age appropriate stores in the mall for the college population. There is now a Pacific Sunwear, and a Hot Topic and there's talk to a Spencer's although that may just be talk. I was really impressed when they put a Lane Bryant in so bigger girls can have clothes in Auburn/Opelika also. more

Colonial Mall - Just OK 4/12/2006

This mall is a small mall as has been mentioned. But the anchor stores that are there; Belk, Dilliards, Sears, J.C. Penny are all smaller as well. Because of this there is a limited selection of clothing. Most of the people I know will go there if they need something specific. However, for a general shopping experience they will make the trek to Atlanta or Birmingham. There are a couple of other stores to visit such as EB Games and FYE which have a great selection of overpriced games, movies, and CD's. One unique store to visit is Joey's Collectables. Here you can find vintage magazines, coins, comics, and toys you may remember from your childhood. Definatly stop by here while visiting the mall. The rest of the stores are what you would expect to find in any mall, only smaller. more

More for grown-ups now! 8/15/2005

With its renovation almost complete, the mall has changed now. It has always been family-oriented, but now has a selection of stores for adult, professional women. Before the renovation, most of the stores were aiming for a teenage demographic. Other than the department stores, there wasn't much for adult women, With the addition of the village-style stores at the front of the mall, there are now women's clothing stores that aim for a slightly older demographic. Stores like Talbots, Ann Taylor Loft, and Coldwater Creek offer stylish choices for those of us who are beyond the midriff-baring, boot-cut days! Finally!! more

nothing special 8/10/2005

It is very small. Every time I visited there I found some shops disappeared. It is not so attractive as a shopping mall. I do not like there. Sometimes there are some stuffs on sale. But generally speaking, it is impossible to have fun shopping there. They need to improve their strategy to attract more customers. more

Auburn's Mall 7/18/2005

This is one of the smaller malls that I've been to (it's no Mall of America), but it actually has quite a few stores in it: over 70 in total. It's one story so there are no elevators and escalators to take, which is great for strollers, and they do a good job with handicap accessibility. Last year, most of its dept stores moved locations within the mall as it expanded, thus each one now has a newer feeling. The food court is in the middle and they have good selection. They do try to make it nice for families. Unfortunately they removed their carousel in the summer of 2003, which is too bad, as it was huge and beautiful. more
