4 Reviews in 2 years? I am obligated.. 5/19/2011

I frequent the Bakery often. There are alot of negative reviews on this website for the most awsome place in town. I am sure that in the past( negative reviews are 4 in 2 years and way older) there may have been staffing problems or gratuity problems( Gratuity is written on menu) but I know that the place is clean, has awsome food & desserts. The bartenders Selena and Kristin are the best, so friendly and genuine, they care about your concerns and will go out of their way to make your experience a wonderful one. German food is prepared fresh, go to mcDs if you want speed. The Spetzel rocks my life along with the awsome drafts they carry. They might even give you a sample of your beer or Vino if you ask instead of demand. I love this place.. You will forever recieve my business. more

Meh 5/1/2011

Poor service. Mediocre food. Do not honor reservations made on the web. I have been to the Village Corner several times but no more. I have overlooked the okay (not great) food and the strudel that is served cold. I have over looked the slow service. I kept coming back be cause it was the only German restaurant close by. No more. They botched our reservations on our anniversary dinner. Left word for the manager to call with staff and sent several emails. more

Very dirty, slow/rude service, dead bugs in cookie cabinet 4/18/2011

It was embarrassing to bring my out of town friends to this disgusting establishment. Stale bread, dirty tables/bathrooms, rude service, dead bugs visible in the dessert displays and also inside on the windows. Astronomical prices for poorly prepared food. Health inspectors would have a hay day in this place for sure. Gratuity automatically added to our tab- five people eating- without one mention of it from the server. Unbelievable. Like the area around it, this place is sub-par. more

Stay Away From Their Mail Order! 11/28/2010

Placed an order 10 days in advance. It arrived 2 days late for the party. It was refused. Can not obtain refund on my credit card after E-mails, letters and calling. They advertise satisfaction guaranteed but ignore you once they get the $. more

Good Food, well done 4/11/2010

Food was excellent, Great German cuisine. Entree selection is limited but everything we ate was well executed and tasted as expected. Great selection for dessert - save room. Hard to do that if you love good beer in 23oz glasses. Ten minutes from Stone Mountain Park. Pros: Great Beer selection, great wait service, Excellent food more

nice but not great 6/19/2009

Nice outdoor seating, once we got sat which took about 20 minutes and they were not even busy. The menu was limited especially for lunch/brunch. Service very disjointed. The sausage platter was excellent. I must say it was better than the German places we've eaten at in Helen- those were horrible. I would go back here to have some beer and sausage. Pros: great German Sausage Cons: Slowslowslow service, limited menu, overpriced more

Very Disappointed 12/23/2008

My husband and I have patronized the Village Corner Bakery in Stone Mountain on several occasions, mainly to support businesses in our neighborhood. The food was just ok and the cakes use to taste as described on their website. This year I ordered the Grand Marnier liqueur cake for my boss, based on the description of having, ?4 layers of yellow cake soaked in Grand Marnier liqueur?. I told my boss about it and he was excited. To our disappointment and my embarrassment, there was not a hint of the orange liqueur. It basically tasted like a yellow cake with butter cream. My other complaint is when I placed the order the person I spoke with was rude. However, when I called to complain to the owner about the cake I had purchased, I found out that the rude person I had placed the order with was the owner and he was still rude! He asked, ?What do I want him to do?? I said check with the baker to insure the liqueur was not left out. He said he would and call me back. Of course I have not heard from him even after calling back and leaving a message. It would appear that customer satisfaction doesn?t matter to him, but it matters to me so that is why I am writing this review. Businesses like this don?t deserve our hard earned money. Don't waste your money here. There are a lot of businesses that take pride in customer satisfaction and the quality of their food. more

Sehr Gut 9/15/2008

This is the best German food I had since I left Germany many years ago. The prices are reasonable and the food delicilous. The desserts are to die for. The building is quaint and the service great. I have never had a bad dish. Pros: The food is phenomenal. Cons: It is a little hard to find. more

SURPRISINGLY GREAT FOOD! 7/13/2008

I don't understand the bad reviews-we went here last weekend and had an incredible meal where EVERY SINGLE THING was delicious. I've had plenty of mediocre brunches in this town, so I wasn't expecting much, but we were so happy to have such a great experience. Pros: great food Cons: none more

Good beer selection and pretty good food 3/21/2008

Nice selection of beer that changes from time to time, friendly bartenders, quiet and NO SMOKING inside. Okay for kids - well behaved customers. I would appreciate some additional Americanized snacks, they don't quite get the right formula for nachos, but the snitzel-waggen-furter-fruten German stuff is good. Nice atmosphere, but I would like to have a lock on the men's room door. Surprise? Pros: Beer Selection, indoor and outdoor seating, No Smoking allowed inside, good breakfast Cons: Servings are large, more snacks would help more

worst service ever 2/28/2008

I am very unhappy with my experience at this hell kitchen! Chef ramsey would love it! The prices were totally over proced and claus and hilde were so rude! It is just a FAKE world and would NEVER EVER go there agin! so save your money and time and go somewhere honest and fair. DO not eat that food you will get SICK! Thats a promise. The I team was there last year if that tells you anything! Pros: nothing Cons: uncomfortable, costs to much, disgusting food more

Much less than expected. 10/9/2007

Hello, my fiance and i are knew to georgia. we visited this restaurant with some of our neighbors two weekends ago only to find an overall bad experience with a very upsetting credit card bill two weeks later. we had been charged gratuity twice because we left a tip without knowing that it was already included for only 5 people dining. hoping to find an oktoberfest celebration, we instead found rude service (10 minutes to be greeted at our dirty table), stale bread as an appetizer and a dishonest server who did not mention the added gratuity to our food and beverage check. we obviously do not plan to return. i hate to leave negative feedback but this experience was awful. we're from southern california and so far the "southern hospitality" we heard so much about isn't what we expected at all. Pros: lots of parking in a nearly empty lot Cons: too many to mention. it was a disaster all the way around. more

A good eats gathering place with real Deutsche beer. Authentic and not part of a chain...yeah. 9/12/2007

Recommended by a friend quite a while back, I was surprised by the welcome and the menu. I came looking for a good Pilsner and left with a sense that I'd made some new friends. Since then, I'm back almost weekly. more

Great Bavarian Treats & beer 9/4/2007

This place was a blast to visit and the food although a bit pricey was authentic and delicious. Service was friendly and attentive and the place was well kept and clean. bakery items were out of this world and very fresh. Stone mountain is much better after a few Pints of Spatens Pros: Bakery, Beer & Faulines Cons: Parking more

waste of gas money 6/20/2007

the entire city of stone mountain was a real waste of time for my group and i. we looked forward to a nice dinner in the german restaurant and ended up with upset stomachs (2 members) and people feeling kindof ripped off. prices were pretty high, and the food we received left alot to be desired. the women said that the restrooms were dirty too. lots of traffic also outside. not worth the trip. big lesson learned. Pros: nearby to the stone mountain park area Cons: value for the money more

Horrible Experience all the way around... 6/14/2007

Lazy service from unhelpful, scowling staff of people. We lived in Germany for FIVE YEARS. This place is nowhere near the quality and value you'd expect from extra pricey menus! Atmosphere was non-existent and the bathrooms in this place are simply nasty. No place to change our baby either which was very inconvenient. As a restaurant owner I can tell you that I would not recommend dining here. I sent back my saurbraten because it was dry and my child's grilled cheese smelled and tasted like fish. The only saving grace for this place is that it is near the park so we were able to leave our car there while we visited Stone Mountain. Overall experience was not good. South Carolina definitely has more to offer than Georgia as far as German restaurants go. Pros: Walking distance to Stone Mountain Park Cons: Value, cleanliness, food quality, service more

Nice cosy atmosphere 1/21/2007

We decided to try out The Village Corner after reading the reviews. It was a very pleasant experience. We walked in and were asked which side we wanted to sit on. We chose the left side (that's the tavern side and the most happenin' side - I guess the right side is if you want silence). We ordered the platter for two, which has plenty of food for two people. It's reasonably priced ($24) and we took the leftovers home and had a German breakfast. The food & service was great and we'll be going back. more

Family Owned Bavarian Bakery & Tavern! Sit By The Fireplace! 12/20/2006

Every Labor Day Weekend, at the end of The Yellow Daisy Festival at Stone Mountain, we always stop in The Village Corner. You are simply overcome by the aroma's coming from the bakery ovens, and all those showcases you have to pass, to get to the Dining Room. In cooler weather, get a cozy table near the fireplace. Hands down, we always order the German Plate. A terrific combination of homemade sausages, Red Cabbage(Oh Goodness!), and an assortment of freshly baked breads. Ask for their variety of mustards to put on the sausages. German Beer selection is outstanding. This place is family owned, so expect a family member to stop by the table. The staff are longtime regulars, and more than make you feel at home. And this is a best kept, ATLANTA SECRET! Out of the way for the masses, but not for us. And when you leave back by the bakery again, let me know if you can resist getting a couple of loaves of that apple bread, for only $5.00. We get three, one to eat on the way home, and the other two for later that night. Pros: Outstanding German Baked Goods! Homemade Sausages! Seasoned Service! more

Oi vey! 2/9/2003
