A perfect place for a Wedding, or a Newport Visit 2/14/2012

We stayed here our wedding weekend and we will be back to stay when we visit Newport on our anniversaries. Villa One Twenty is an exception place! Corinna, the innkeeper/owner made our wedding weekend extraordinary. We did our research. We looked at hundreds of B&Bs and wedding and rehearsal dinner venues in Newport. We spoke with a wedding planner who was already booked for our event and she suggested we stop by and take a look at a recently renovated mansion turned B&B. We drove up to the Villa and our jaws dropped. And then when we walked in and saw the place, and I fell head over heals in love with the place. I imagined myself walking down the grand staircase into the light filled stunning atrium. We rented all of the rooms for a very fair price and had access to the entire Villa, and we hosted our rehearsal dinner/party there night before the wedding. My family and friends took the most stunning photos at our rehearsal dinner and at the Villa. It is a majestic place and photographs like a Town and Country magazine shoot backdrop. It is stunning! I can't include enough fabulous accolades about the venue and Corinna. I'm a New Yorker with very high standards. Corinna far exceeded all of my expectations. First of all, the pictures on the website don't even do the venue justice. It is an elegant, mansion designed and decorated by the equivalent of a NYC top designer. The space feels majestic and like you are actually staying in a Newport mansion with modern artistic detailing. Many of the other venues we were considering were beautiful, but they felt dated, small and dark. We rented all of the rooms and had access to the entire Villa our wedding weekend. I sipped tea in the library and caught up with family members. We drank complimentary champaign in crystal flutes while meeting with another wedding vendor to discuss final details. We enjoyed fabulously prepared breakfasts at a grand table with our bridal party in the dining room with its soaring ceilings and huge windows. My now husband and I took walks through the meticulously manicured English garden and sat next to the fountain when we wanted to get away for a quiet moment. I could probably write pages with details from our stay at the Villa, but I suggest you just stop by and meet Corinna and you will see what I'm trying to relay in this review. You may fall in love with the space as we did and want to book the place for that, but you will also have access to one of the best wedding planners you could think of without having to pay for it. Corinna has an aesthetic eye. I imagine she must have been formally trained in combination with natural talent. The only thing I would have changed about my wedding weekend is I would have also hosted my wedding at the Villa as well. more

It is a wonderful place to be and I can recommend it a lot.\r Just by seeing the house one has the feeling to be put back in time. It looks so beautiful with its nice veranda and pillars. \r After stepping in, the first impression of a well maintained house is confirmed.\r High ceilings and a very affectionate accomodation makes you want to strol through the house in order to see everything.\r The rooms (I was so impressed that I asked to see a couple of more rooms in order to check whether I am just lucky or whether it is standard) are just breath taking.\r \r The breakfast is of a very high quality and it is not only that, it is the overall atmosphere, the breakfast room, the beautiful old mansion, the caring of the personell, the very good taste with which furniture and details have been chosen and arranged which makes the breakfast a wonderful start for the day.\r \r The only negative point: It is difficult to leave again\r \r Go there and spend a romantic weekend or just stay there in order to visit Newport. It is worth it!\r \r \r \r more

Great value 4/11/2006

For the price we paid (about $60 a night), I recommend it extremely. For anything above $100, I do not recommend it. The owners were selling, so it might have changed. We figured we did not need a hot tub, because it had a bath, but the bathtub is TINY! Do not count on two-person romantic baths, nevertheless a single person shower! The toilet was broken and they had repair men in and out of the room the first two days, so that got me upset. Other than that, the mansion was gorgeous, it had parking outside, and was the perfect distance from Newport. I recommend it during the Winter Festival. There were a million and one things to do! The owners were extremely impersonal, but the housekeeper was a sweetheart! The breakfast was very good but it was not ""hot"" cooked food, but rather muffins and breads. PERFECT LOCATION. Pros: Spacious, Great amenities, inexpensive Cons: Haunted, Tiny Tub, a bit impersonal more

This place is a gem! 4/6/2005

We will stay here every time we visit Newport from now on. The mansion is amazing and the rooms are grand with very high ceilings and amazing decor. The furnature was elegant and our host very attentive. We stayed for 2 nights and the full course breakfasts each morning were so large they held us till dinner! Very close to all of the Newport action and well priced. I promise you will not be disappointed. more
