Vanthia's is my favorite restaurant in Cape May. The only thing wrong with it is that it is not open year round. Be sure to call for hours in the off-season and they are often closed in the dead of winter.
Vanthia's is the kind of homey place that is elegant yet not at all pretentious. We bring our children ages 8 and 11 because they are well-behaved and they like the kids menu.
The breakfast is sublime as is anything on the dinner and lunch menu. We recommend that you pay attention to the specials read by the waitress as those are often the best plate. You just can't go wrong at Vanthias.
Their desserts are on another level-they are heavenly. The owner/chef makes his own desserts and I once had a key lime cake there that was the best dessert that I have ever had.
This is a bring your own beer/wine and it's best to make a reservation before coming. We celebrate all our birthdays here.
