Editorial review from Citysearch 3/14/2013

Drive thru service! Had to go in for a follow-up due to a contact issue. I was not seen by an Optometrist, but a technician and they were not qualified to address my issue! Gave me contacts that were not in my prescription and sent me on my way. Terrible follow-up and poor medical advice! I am going to now have to spend money out of my own pocket to pay for the care I should have recieved after having blown my yearly insurance coverage on this visit! more

Business sucks 10/7/2010

Our Opthalmologist, Dr. Rasky, seems to be capable, competent, and personable. The Optometry section is slow, incompetent, and often rude. I have had to get two pair of glasses redone. It took several trips back and much urging to get them redone. In both cases the interpupillary distance was set incorrectly. My wife has had to get two pair redone as well. She picked up another new pair today- took over a month for them to be made. She called last Thurs at 3 PM (regular business hours) to ask if they were ready yet, and had to leave a message! They called back 5 days later. She got them today- they are not right- blurry, incorrect tint. The Russian lady who waited on her was curt and rude and insisted she take them to ""get used to them."" She will have to go back again to get further action (more delay.) Go somewhere else to get your glasses. \r Andrew Jamieson M.D. more

This business is bad business! 8/17/2010

This was the third year I had taken my daughter to this place for her annual eye exam. The first two experiences were good, although I felt a bit like I was being treated like just another animal in a herd.\r But this third and final exam was to be my last. I made the appointment for her to get a new pair of eye glasses and somehow ended up being forced to pay for a contact lense fitting. Not sure how but I keep getting a bill in the mail stating that I still owed them more money. I would call the billing dept and they would agree with me that I didn't have to pay the additional expenses for a contact fitting, but then 3 months later I would get another bill! So after calling a total of three times, I was connected to the ""billing manager"" who proceeded to tell me that I owe them for the final contact lense fitting my daughter was given. I kept telling her that there was no such appointment and she insisted that there was and even gave me the exact date I was supposedly there. Even after explaining my actual whereabouts on that particular day (my daughters swim meet), I was told that I would need to pay the balance or it would be sent to collections. \r In the end I was forced to pay for an appointment that I never made or attended. I will never use this company again!\r more

Please take my advice, go somewhere else... 7/27/2010

My first visit was to obtain a new prescription for contact lenses. The doctor evaluated me, and ordered what he felt was the correct Rx. He gave me a sample pair to try out. I was having trouble seeing with the sample pair so I decided to reconfirm my Rx before picking up $135.00 worth of the wrong contacts. \r \r At this visit I was told by the contact lens technician that the Doctor had indeed given me the wrong contact lenses, and his charting was very confusing to her. She left the room to double-check something and came back in with an even strong Rx for me to try, and a waiver for me to sign that I would pay $30.00 for this new evaluation. When I explained that is bad customer service and that the original examination was wrong she said that the $30.00 is company policy and “it wasn’t like she personally was going to pocket the money” – which wasn’t even the point. I don’t think It’s unreasonable to think If one pays for a service, he or she expects that service to either 1) be accurate in the first place, or 2) corrected free of charge. \r \r Needless to say, they lost a client over $30.00 and I went back to my old eye care clinic and I will never to Vancouver Eye Care again. I just hope this review helps others to make a better decision than I did and avoid the hassle.\r \r As a side note, A co-worker of mine went to the same Optometrist and had a similar experience. \r Pros: Nothing Cons: An Incompetent Optometrist and Apathetic, Pushy Staff more

Great Doctors 11/10/2009

If all you're interested in is a set of eyeglasses, go to the usual cut-rate strip mall shops. Sometimes, an optometrist is not enough: I needed a real eye doctor, and the ophthalmologists @ Vancouver Eye Care do a fine job. I've been going to Dr. Rundle for years, and Dr. Tenold did a great job on my cataracts. Yeah, the front office on Main is pretty grim, but the folks @ Columbia Tech are sweeter. But, you want good medical care or a back-rub? Pros: Most professional MDs Cons: expensive eyewear more

Find another Eye Care Clinic 10/29/2009

Found the Business office experience like dealing with a high powered aggressive collection's agency. Too Bad. They have great doctors but business office has poor management and poor customer service skills. Just a bit of politeness would have gone a long way. Pros: Great Eye Doctors, Easy Parking Cons: Business Office practices more

What a ripoff 9/3/2009

BE WARNED - STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE FROM THESE THIEVES AND IDIOTS! The price they quote is nowhere near the real price and they will do absolutely nothing to correct their error - other than to tell you that it is your fault. UNBELIEVABLE! Cons: The entire experience more

Good Doctors - Poor Eye Glasses 8/30/2008

I have give this a 2 part rating. Both times I have use Vancouver Eye Care PS once on Main street and now on 87th Ave. I have had a good exam, and I have zero complaints there. The staff is friendly as well as the Doctors are through I am diabetic so I have to have my eyes dilated etc so they are very attentive to my eyes.\r \r My compliant would be that the eye glass dispensing department that I believe is owned or leases space it very under par. Each time I have had glass prescriptions i just get the feeling that because I'm on Medicaid that I'm so beneath them. The girls I've worked with in both locations are just snobs, and they are trying to push off a 300 pair of frames. So when I got my last pare they did not even fit right, the arms are to short for my face but when I went back to the pick them up they did not order the lenses correctly and they just handed them to me. If they would of looked at the frames in the beginning she would of noticed the ARMs are to short placing causing them to tip forward on my face. \r When I use to get my glass script filled at other places they would sit and measure the eye with the new lens and do adjustments and take pride in the work. But if you don't have tons to drop on designer frames this office will pass off incorrect work with an attitude of ""BE GRATEFUL"" it's paid for by Medicare. I do have money and private insurance to cover other frames that at least fit right as I need 2 pairs. They just don't seem to care, at either place. Also they are way overpriced in this economy. So bottom line take your script from the Doctor and walk out the door go somewhere else that really gives a flip about your hard earned dollars. Pros: Doctors are good Cons: Eyeglass store in Clinic is very poor more

A+ Person & Doctor 11/4/2003

I have seen Dr. Keown on several occasions and I always leave with the feeling that he practices medicine like an old fashioned small town doctor - he takes the time to listen to you and to make sure all of your questions have been answered. Always a pleasure to see this doctor! Pros: Communicaton, Bedside Manner, Great Parking more
