Troll Hallen for the most part is a great, realaxed bar with good food--although pricey. The Stein burger is worth the trip. We are frequent diners at the bar but be prepared for spotty service-especially if the adjoining Glitretind restaurant is busy. On a recent visit with friends, we brought in a high end bottle of red wine and instead of using the basic white wine glasses that are always on the table, we requested a larger size for a red wine. The waitress told us that we would have to actually pay for larger glasses! We asked to speak to the sommelier who I know through a business relationship. After a few minutes the waitress returned and changed out our glasses to the larger version at no charge. The sommelier never came to our table - shame on her! Summer is the best time to visit--less crowded with better service. Winter tends to be very busy with tourists in town to ski but service is not up to par. more

Well, it's a lovely place -- but you've got to wonder where everyone is -- there's no one here but you and your date, if you've got one. The food is right on, but very pricey for what you get. Service is largely indifferent -- save for the hostesses in earshot of the tables complaining and gossiping to each other! Pros: charming, quiet, romantic Cons: deserted, pricey more
