Best

This is a great place to spend a fairly quiet afternoon. I say Quiet because it is usually not crowded. The exhibits are wonderful and they have new ones on a regular basis also....

Take a date 10/12/2005

This is a great museum to spend an afternoon with a date or with some visiting family. Admission isn't too much and there are plenty of things to look at. Older adults might enjoy it more then younger children, but children will still find some things to enjoy. more

I love this museum! 9/26/2005

Western Heritage 9/23/2005

Fairly decent museum. The main exhibits would be of particular attraction to those over 40 for nostalgia reasons and the train exhibits would excite railroad buffs. Some of the rest is a bit mundane though. Try to hit when one of the traveling or special exhibits is up to get more bang for your buck. The soda fountain is cool - make sure to leave a bit before close so you can stop by on your way out. more

Surprise museum 9/22/2005

I had never been to the Western Heritage museum and attended for a benefit. What a pleasant surprise. We sure wished we had visited this interesting and informative museum before. My sons were thoroughly enthralled and wanted to see more. The cost is right. The parking can be a bit tricky. more

Trains and Stuff 8/4/2005

The Durham Western Heritage Museum is in an old train station in Downtown Omaha. The huge lobby has been remodeled to look the way it would have sixty years ago, with waiting benches in rows, and statues of travellers - soldiers, families, etc. It really gives you a feel of what it used to be like when train travel was it. The rest of the museum is also very neat, there is a real train you can walk through, and an old style prairie classroom. All in all a great family outing! more
