The Columbia Restaurant at the Pier

This restaurant has not updated the menu since 1905. If you are a member of AARP, maybe this is the place you can enjoy. The food was NOT very good: Overcooked rice and undercooked chicken. The waiter offered to microwave the chicken to cook it more!!! The portions would qualify you for ""The Biggest Looser"" show in no time. Maybe the way to enjoy this place it to skip the food, order some wine and watch the view. But we still need to get dinner somewhere. I gave it 2 starts for the location only, I would not go back! I have to say, it's hard for me to leave a restaurant hungry, but that's what happened. I ordered the Snapper Special that promised a traditional and exceptional Spanish dish of fish and vegetables. It didn't mention that half were breaded and fried. In the end, I payed $24.95 for 4 bites of overcooked fish and extremely salty rice. I was ignored by the waiter who explained that he had a table of 16 to care for as he hurried off leaving the bill. Upon leaving, I expressed that the food and service was lacking. The response was a tilted head and an ""AWWWW."" I travel across the US on business. I can't remember the last time I didn't leave a 20% tip. I can now sadly mark the day I left less than 10%. Food was good - not spectacular, but it's a lovely place to watch the little planes take off and the dolphin boats go out. Good for a little pick-me-up snack. more
