In ShortA garishly lit entryway with glossy headshots of the nightly cabaret talent leads to a disarmingly bright room drenched in fake crystal, with mirrored panels and short grey carpet. The crowd is older and can sometimes come on too strong. The Other Side essentially takes the place of L.A.'s beloved and now long-gone show queen/piano bar institutions, Joly's and Mr. Mike's. The bar staff is friendly--if often inattentive--and the drinks are potent and cheap.
