Thai Basil Restaurant 1/29/2010

My wife and I live in Riverside County. Thai food became our favorite international cuisine when we were introduced to it about 20 years ago. We travel far and wide when we find a really good Thai restaurant .. from Temecula to Ventura, .. Laguna Beach to Monrovia; .. but our favorite place is this small, almost always packed restaurant in Fullerton, Thai Basil. Not only is the food as excellent as any we've ever eaten, but the restaurant is always super clean, the glasses are always sparkling like new, and we've NEVER had to send back a utensil because of a food speck left on it ( and we're both very picky ). Speed of service is always appropriate in relation to how crowded it is. Excellent food, excellent service, and excellent bright atmosphere. -- Richard & Sandy more

I would give it zero stars, but it won't let me. 4/17/2009

Great service; but it's about the food. We ordered 5 dishes. The chicken, fish, beef and shrimp tasted like they were boiled in salt water: they were tough, dry and tasteless, so the taste was completely removed from the sauces and broths. The Pad thai noodle was the worst we've ever had; even microwave pad thai noodle tasted better. The "original Thai fish" dish tasted like a frozen dinner and had no taste. The beef ribs were so tough that our jaws were sore from chewing them. The Chicken curry tasted just like coconut milk from a can, and the chicken in the curry was dry and tough. Our whole party agreed on these observations. We tried to give the food a chance but we did not even finish half of our plates. We went to another thai restaurant the following day and the difference was enormous. The food at Thai Basil simply did NOT taste like Thai. We were surprised since they used to taste good a couple of years ago. Perhaps these tough times have taken a toll on their quality. We will not return to Thai Basil, because now we know the difference between Thai food and a bad imitation of Thai food. more

Yummy spicy food 12/2/2005

A group of my coworkers decided to order food and bring it back to work. They told me they were going to order from Thai Basil. I never had eaten there before, but decided to give it a try. I ordered the garlic chicken combo (the spicy level was a 7). I food was great and very spicy, which is a good thing for me. You can have the food mild or very spicy. The serving sizes are good and the price is really good. If you are looking for a reasonably priced Thai restaurant, give Thai Basil a try. more

A Great Find! 8/18/2005

This Thai restaurant has great food. The menu has everything. The decor is simple and the atmosphere is casual. The staff is friendly and helpful. The dishes are large, and the prices are low. Like most thai restaurants, the food is spicy. The kitchen staff lets you decide how spicy to make your meal, and they do their best not to make you suffer. But, there are plenty of dishes that are not spicy and child friendly. more
