SUMMIT POINTE 2011 (part 2 of 2) 11/21/2011

6. Mentioning barging in... BURGLARY IS COMMON. I'm not just saying that because my apt was broken in two days before Christmas, but one of my co workers moved there after I did and her place was broken into as well. I went online to find reviews to discover two other break ins in the past 6 months. Guess what the maintenance manager said about the security door that we couldn't believe anyone penetrated to get to our door. ""Oh, these doors are so fragile. Anyone can use a butter knife or credit card and get in."" $%@! I recall correctly just a few months ago, the salesperson emphasizing the safety of these apts due to those security doors. It was his selling point! 7. Considered breaking my lease to get away from the scandalous, lying frauds. I weighed my options. Break lease, forfeit security deposit of 1100, and still pay two months rent for a place I no longer reside VS stick it out for the remaining 5 months. I had too much to lose, so I decided to stay. I got an alarm system installed. Good thing I did, because I learned that maintenance just waltz into your apt whenever they feel like when you're not home--even though I hadn't requested their pitiful service. I just had a break in just weeks prior, meaning I'm scared and on the edge a lot. For me to get a call at work from ADT stating my front door censor and hallway motion censor just went off is nerve-wrecking! I get home to discover that my door is locked. So I knew it was the maintenance manager. I search my apt to see if he left a notice stating he'd paid my place a visit. He didn't leave one. I check my phone history to see if he called and/or left a voicemail stating he needed to enter my home. He didn't call. I had to go hunt him down. His excuse. ""I was working in the apt below yours and afraid the ceiling might cave in, so I went to check your floor."" 8. It's already known that apts require advance notice of your intent not to renew your lease. Summit Pointe requires 60 day notice. I hand delivered mine 90 days prior. They informed me they will mail a letter of confirmation within the next week. I had to submit numerous entries online, reminding them I hadn't received my letter. The next month when I went to pay, I lied to them and told them I'd recommended a friend to move here. Three days later, I received my confirmation letter, dated for the same day I informed them of my recommendation. 9. My last month living, I was quite excited because the nightmare was finally coming to an end. However, I was wrong. I get a notice in the mail, stating I owe 250 in three days or Space Properties (Summit Pointe's owners) will be taking me to court for nonpay of full month's rent. I took a day off from work to drive all the way to the leasing off to settle this dispute. They have so much fun trying to squeeze money out of you, that they didn't take a look at their records to see I paid half a month's rent because my lease ended. 10. Lease ended July 2011 and today November 2011, I am still being screwed by Summit Pointe. As outlined in the lease, tenants are entitled to their deposit 30 to 45 days after their lease end. I lost count of days after 90 days. I still haven't received my deposit. Other than deducting for the quarter-sized hole in the wall from having the alarm system installed, my apt was spotless and damage free. What's even more upsetting is when I finally got to speak to one of their employees about my deposit. I inquired about the amount and if it's been mailing. Reneau from their accounting dept exact words were ""I don't have those answers because I don't have your file in front of me now."" Then my roommate let me listen to a voicemail she'd left him in reference to our security deposit. Her exact words ""I apologize for the delay in your refund; I've just had some things going on in my personal life."" Because we still haven't received our deposit, we're focused to continuously contact them. As of the past 3 weeks, they haven't called us more
