Best

I've always loved this place. They have a great wine list and the food is always wonderful. This always makes for a great date night.

Worst

You will leave smelling like you have been to a dance club. The salads were very good. The filet was so over salted it was dried out and left kept me up all night with dehydra...

Was great, but not any longer! 11/26/2011

We sat there at 5pm and were told it would be 15 minutes. They kept telling us that until it was almost 7pm! We ordered our food and it arrived 45 later. The steaks were rare, but we wouldn't dare send them back. Won't go back after wasting 3 hours of our time. This is the second time we were there and it wasn't like this. It was so expensive this time too, so they must have raised the prices. Don't plan to come back. more

Overpriced and mediocre 11/13/2011

This steakhouse has cut down on their portions and left their prices high. We ordered a shrimp cocktail that used to come with at least 6 large shrimp for $11. Now at this same price, it comes with only 4 shrimp. They kept the same mountain of ice on which they've always served the shrimp so it was very obvious we were being ripped off. We ordered the steak salad, as we have before, but since I wanted my dressing on the side it came with the cup of dressing on my plate. I guess they thought I wouldn't notice I received at least 2 fewer slices of steak than my husband because my plate looked full with the extra cup. We didn't feel like talking to management because we were distracted by our conversation, but looking back I'm sorry we didn't. I'm glad I have this forum to vent. We won't be going back. more

Not worth it 11/14/2010

I do not understand why anyone thinks this is a good steak house. Steaks are not great, sides are just so-so. more

Great Ganache Cake 10/13/2010

The food was good. Not great but good. Service could not have been better. Very friendly staff and our waitress and manager in training were most attentive to our table. We asked to be seated to see football, and they were so nice to meet our needs. Price was reasonable considering we had a $20 coupon. Most likely would not dine there again without coupon. more

Felt like a fool for questioning a bill at the bar 3/20/2009

Was over charged and made to feel like a fool by weekly costumers. I was very embarrised and so was my husband. Probably will not return and have been eating here since the opening on special occasions. Not everyone can eat there on a weekly basis with this ecomomy. There are also many other places to spend money on food that are just as good. Pros: Great food Cons: Bartenders do not pour eaqully more

Go if you have PLENTY of time and like free cheesecake! 2/28/2009

I've had very poor service in each of my 3 visits in the last 18 mos Each time, the server or manager offered us a free cheesecake dessert to make up for it. On the third time, I realized that poor service (VERY slow, incorrect orders, etc) is the norm here, and everyone is getting free desserts! So, if you have plenty of time and like cheesecake, go for it! The food has been good, and the atmosphere is nice, which is why I left 3 stars. more

Great place for any occasion 5/14/2008

This place has the best service and steaks I ever experienced. We've been to this place three times. The last time we went on mother's day for a dinner. The place was full, but there was no wait. The server came to us right away and asked if we want order drinks. We ordered couple drinks and salad to start. In a few minutes we placed our order for steaks. Unfortunately our order took a while to get to our table. During our wait, two managers came to us with apology for wait. Our server definitely was worried. Good for everybody we were in a good mood and not in a hurry. What was a surprise at the end when we received a $0 bill?! The restaurant took care of us (the bill was $145). We told our waiter that anyway we would be back, because they have great service and food. Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere Cons: ? more

Don't get the fish, steaks are good. 2/20/2008

I know...it's my fault. I ordered the flounder (fish of the day) and it was barely edible. I have enjoyed steaks at Stoney and the rolls, bread, yada yada yada are all good. Get a steak, enjoy the darkness, stay clear of the frozen fish. Pros: Good Steaks, Adequate service and space Cons: frozen seafood more

Great food, amibance and service! 12/22/2007

I eat here regularly. My favorites are twin steak medalions, whiskey shrimp and crab cakes with caper sauce for appetizes. Cozy atmosphere and excellent service. Best restaurant in the area. I'd recommend it to anyone. more

The Best Filet Oscar I've ever had!!! 9/11/2007

I don't mind driving far for a great steak but now I know I don't have to. Stoney River offers everything that you would expect out of some highend downtown restaurant but in the burbs. The service was personable, but not intrusive, and the glass of Treanna complemented my Coffee Cured Filet Oscar perfectly. My wife had the Lobster tail and it was delicious. We were too full for dessert but promised our server that we would return soon enough. I can't wait to go back. I know I'll want to try something different next time but I don't think I'll be able to pass up the Coffee Cured Filet Oscar. more

Overpriced chain 9/4/2007

Basically, this is O'Charley's with dim light. OVERPRICED food, OVERPRICED wine list and mediocre service. If you are going to spend this kind of money then there are plenty of other good choices in this town that beat this place hands down. Chain or local. I hope this concept of high price and mediocrity doesn't become the norm in this town. more

Worst Management Ever 8/25/2007

Went to the restaurant while here on business as an associate is good friends witht he manager/owner? Don't know who he is but he was pompous, rude, and ignored us even after we told him we made a special trip in because of his friend. I have never been so frustrated or angry over mistreatment in my 60 years on earth but this did me in. Pros: Food, Server Cons: Tall bald manager!!!! more

Lodge Filet 7/6/2007

I have been here many times, and out of all the times I have been, only one time was disappointing. I will say that I think that they have the best steak in the area. I always get the Lodge Filet cooked medium. Last time I went there it was under-cooked...weor at least I though, but what ended up happening was that they mixed up mine & my husband's filets. Anyway, I expect at a place like this to just cook me a new steak and not put the same one back on the grill. When you do that it just makes the meat tougher & it just ruins the steak. They brought my steak back out & it was a lot tougher. I did not enjoy it at all, and I was very disappointed to have paid that price and not recieve a new steak...afterall, it was not my fault. Pros: atmosphere, ambiance, Lodge Filet, lamb chop appetizer, the insanely huge chocolate cake more

Good But Expensive 6/25/2007

2 glasses of wine, three ribeyes with salads, grilled shrimp dinner, one bud light and one mudslide, appetizer $200.81 (tip included) Pros: Nice Atmosphere, friendly staff Cons: Expensive-not the best we ever had more

Amazing steaks and service! 3/27/2007

We had a refreshingly wonderful experience from the moment we walked in the door until the last drop of dessert! We took a chance on Stoney River on Valentine's Night, knowing it would probably be packed. My husband had called in advance and we were seated moments after we arrived! We have an excellent server, Angela, who wasn't pushy, but definitely attentive! We both had perfectly cooked steaks and the server?s suggested wine was a great combination of flavor. We became customers for life that evening and look forward to more reasons to head over to Stoney River Legendary Steaks! Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Steaks! Cons: Small Waiting area more

Good Food but Long Wait and Pricey 3/5/2007

We called in for the ""priority seating"" which they claim to seat you in 30 minutes if you call in & put your name on the list. So we were down for 8:00 which means we should have been in our seat by 8:30. We were not seated until 9:30 & there were also several other very unhappy couples who had been there longer than we had. If we had not been given a gift card for Stoney River we wouldnt have stayed. If we are paying for dinner, I refuse to wait more than a half hour for a table anywhere. I havent located food worth waiting longer for. But since we were using a gift card, we sat there and waited and waited and waited. We were seated in the ""non smoking"" section which happened to be a stones throw from the bar, where smoking is permitted. Like there's some invisible line that stops the smoke from entering the designated ""non smoking"" area. But anyway. The fireplace was lit which made for a lovely and cozy ambience. I ordered the prime rib but since we'd waited an hour and a half for a table they'd run out right before I ordered. So I was forced to quickly pick another option. I dont even recall which cut of meat I selected but it was seasoned with some kind of rosemary rub. I liked that when the server brought out our steaks she requested we cut them down the center to verify it was cooked like we wanted. Our steaks were delicious and the cesear salad was yummy. We also split a gigantic chocolate cake that came with two shots of milk (needed more milk). It was so rich neither of us could eat much at one time. We took it home and I ate on it three more times & my husband had two more deserts from it. It was very pricey on the front end but since it lasted us several days it was worth it. Our server was lovely and attentive until the end then it appeared that she also had to engage in her close up duties even though she still had patrons. We knew it was pricey going in but the food was good and we may return there for special occasions but not very often. Pros: Fireplace, steak, desert, service Cons: Waiting, Pricey, Crowded, non smoking section right next to bar more

attentive service 12/14/2006

I had lunch here last week and i must say, the service was lovely. I've only been in Nashville since March, and i find that servers always want to be my best friend. Not the case at Stoney River. My server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeabe, but at no time did she try to sit at the table. I found this a real plus. The food was very good, and the place had a quiet sort of elegance in that it wasn't cluttered with any type of memorabilia on the walls, it wasn't trying to be trendy. Just good food in a very conservative and almost masculine environment without feeling like a cigar bar. And again, wonderful service. Definitely a very good choice for a business lunch. more

Great Steak 10/29/2006

Glad to see stoney river getting some props around here. Ever since it opened in Cool Springs I have been a loyal customer. I have honestly never had a one bad experience eating at the restaurant. Pros: Food, Atmosphere more

Fantastic service, Steaks that you could cut with a butter knife. 10/17/2006

My brother and I had the Cowboy Cut Bone-In Ribeye, and my wife and mother had the Center Cut Siroin. Everything was done to perfection. I hope you save room for desert. Pros: Service, Steaks, Parking Cons: $$$ more
