South Street Cafe Pizza

We used to order from there when we first moved to Fanwood, but being told 20 minutes for pickup, getting there and having to wait another 20 minutes got old fast. Never again... more

We ate at South Street Cafe once and ordered out a couple times when we first moved to Fanwood. However, my husband (who is Italian) hates their pizza. The subs and sandwiches are a little better. Service is slow. Once when we ordered for pick up we found that they had given our pizza to someone else because they thought we took too long to get there. Now we order from Alfonso's in Scotch Plains. My husband likes it much better and no problems with service. more

This is your basic pizza place. I used to order from there about once a week. because its very close to my home. they have a nice little fish tank under the register that keeps the kids entertained. the take out order wait varies from 20-45 minutes. the last time i ordered a pizza they told me 20 minutes. i got there 40 minutes later to pick it up because i was tied up at the grocery store and i didnt think it made a difference to them. I arrived to pick up the pizza at 9:15 (the sign says they close at 9:30) and the owner sat and stared me down and the kid working there told me that they had wanted to leave early that night, "would have closed half an hour ago" and "almost left my pizza outside." they were obviously irritated with me and they acted like i had done something wrong. I never heard of this -- you decide what you think. i stopped going there after that. now i drive an extra 1/2 mile to another pizza place and it doesnt make a bit of difference to me. more

The pizza at this restaurant is pretty good. The subs are also good. The last time I was here I waited a long time, but the service isn't always bad. I guess it could have been a bad day for them. So in summary good italian food and usually good service. Try going in on off hours. more
