Rip off artists 12/5/2011

I went to bucky's in puyallup to have a muffler replaced(that worked fine but was a bit louder than stock) I told Randy that I wanted a quieter larger muffler installed. When I picked up my car an hour later, I noticed the new muffler was exactly the same muffler that they took off only "new". I questioned Randy as to why they did not put a larger and quieter muffler on like I had requested and he said "it was the only one other than stock that would fit." He lied.... I went to another muffler shop a few days later and they showed me 2 other muffers that fit my car that are much larger and quieter( almost twice as big and packed to quiet the exhaust system) than the one bucky's put on for the same price installed. I paid them $130 for nothing.... I called Randy after I got the quote from the other shop, and instead of offering to correct the problem, he argued with me again that there was no other option than a stock muffler for $$$$. I gave him the part #'s of the other mufflers and he said he would call me back....I have not heard from him still 3 days later. Stay away from bucky's unless you have more money than common sense. They are a total rip off!! more

$1600 oil change 8/16/2010

Bucky's caused damage to my ingnition system which cost $1600 repair at Toyota of Puyallup. Afteran attempt by Bucky's to repair the ignition the car was towed to Toyota to be repaired. When I called the main office to complain, I was treated like a criminal. I was told the only way I was to get compensation was to "Lawer Up". No attempt to settle my claim. They blamed everybody else and took no responsibility for thier actions. The only way to solve the problem will be small claims court or "lawer up". Does Bucky's deserve your busness? more

Very disapointed 8/15/2009

My wife's car needed the brakes done and she took it to Bucky's for a quote. They took the tires off and gave her a quote. She decided not to go with them. They tightened the lug nuts so tight that when I went to fix the brakes myself, I literally had to stand on wrench to loosen them and one of the posts broke off. When I went to complain they refused to fix the problem saying that they had tightened the lug nuts to factory specifications and told me how many foot/pounds they had tightened the lug nuts to. I checked it out later and they had tightened the lug nuts way past what my car's owner's manual recommended. I don't know if they were vindictive or incompetent, but either way, I won't be going to Bucky's again and neither should you. more

They will take you for a ride (and lighten your wallet)... 6/12/2008

I had an issue with my brakes the other day. There was a grinding noise coming from my front tires. I took it to Bucky's and had them look at it. They told me that my breaks where bad in the front (which they were and they showed me). There was no pad on the front left break. So I knew they needed to be worked on. I asked for a quote and the total came to about $650.00. I almost died. That was for replacing the pads, rotor, and calipers. I called a couple acquaintances and asked them for there advice. Both told me that it was crap. I have an '04 Impala and they said I should not need calipers already. I asked them to put my car back together that I would be getting a second opinion. The guy at the counter tried to convince me that I really needed those parts, but I again requested they put it back together for me. While waiting for my car the guy at the counter told me that if I wanted to have them do it for cheaper that I did not have to do the calipers... THAN WHY DID THEY QUOTE ME THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!! So I took my car home and had one of my friends come over to help me change the pads and rotor myself (it was actually really easy to do we had it done in an hour and I had never done breaks before). The total retail cost of my parts was $160.00 from Shucks and I paid my friend $100.00 for the hour of work he helped me with my car. Total cost $260.00 and Bucky wanted $650.00 for more work than what was needed. Now this last part maybe a rumor about there pricing but here is what I was told. They get there parts wholesale, mark them up about 25%, add labor costs, and than DOUBLE THAT NUMBER. When I did the math on the estimated cost of what they wanted to do and what they wanted to charge it worked out to be about right. I wish I could give them 0 stars... more

Bucky's Puyallup, WA location 4/11/2007

I hate being duped!! I should have had the mechanic change the oil in my honda accord, the one that said "I've never had one returned yet". Meaning a car or unsatisfied customer come back to complain. I had the $13.95 oil change today and this evening have a leak under my car. My car has never had a leak. It's a Honda!! I've called and am told to return in the morning so that he can look at it. How nice, once the drain plug has had a chance to mold new threads on the other side, it will never be the same. While I was there for my hour of waiting, 2 others brought their cars back to that same location, once woman said there is leakage under hers, her car was rather new, new than my honda. And another a woman that just left, had just paid for her oil change, obviously just drove around town for a bit and came back stating "it smoked and stunk now". They put her back in, but I was relieved mine was done and left. Duped!!.....We trust Bucky, he's a home town name, I'll never go back after this fiasco is completed, if it ever will be. I'll tell all of my friends too. more

Cheap oil change 8/19/2005

Bucky's is the place for us lazy folk that do not want to change our own oil. For $13.95, you can take your car into the shop, and they'll have the oil changed for you in less than an hour (most of the time). The service is outstanding with honest mechanics that are not out to make a buck. If something needs to be repaired, they'll let you know, and give you an honest estimate. The prices are right and the service is something that most big chain repair shops can't light a torch to. more
