I purchased a very expensive couch from Sofa u Love in 2009 and was appalled with both the quality of the product and the lack of, or should I say, complete disregard of customer care I received.
After looking extensively at restoration hardware, pottery barn, ethan allen, thomasville, etc I just felt the quality of product and price were not on par. A friend of mine introduced me to Jan Bixler.
I met with Jan in her store in Carpinteria. She took so much time with me to help me figure out exactly what I wanted. She even offered to come to my home to help measure in order to figure out the perfect size for our couch and chair we were wanting to order. After ordering, it took exactly 2 weeks for our new furniture to arrive. I still paid less than what I paid for a brand new sofa from sofa u love and I have a gorgeous brand new sofa and chair.
I am not sure who Debbie L is who left the poor review and I must say that it did concern me. However, after having my new furniture and having a close personal friend who has been buying furniture from Jan for several years and had nothing but wonderful things to say about it I simply figure that there are those few people who are simply never satisfied.
I consider myself a picky person when it comes to something like furniture as it is something that you plan on having for several years. The fabric is beautiful, no marks or snags, and they are so very comfortable.
Just to compare experiences, when my sofa from sofa u love arrived the chenille material had several snags in it, the couch was slip-covered and we did not order it to be. When I brought that up to sofa u love I was told to take a pin or a snag tool and simply push the snags back in to hide them - all this for a brand new 2700 couch. When I brought up the fact that my receipt said upholstered couch and nothing about ordering a slip-covered couch I was told that I was wrong and I was the type of person who was not happy with anything. I was shocked to say the least. They did not cut the foam wide enough for the center cushion of the couch and instead of re-cutting the perfect size they simply added another piece of foam. The feathers with were wrapped around the foam were in their own enclosed case which was made about 6-8 inches larger than the actual seat cushion so when the seat cover was put on the inner feather lining would shift all over the place and the couch would look horrible.
Jan Bixler has called me to check and ensure that I am happy with everything and my advice to anyone would be to find whatever photo you like and she can have an exact copy made and ready for you in 2 weeks and the quality of product is fabulous.
