a joke 1/24/2008

I have stayed at Snug Harbor one time and that was plenty. I will not stay again and do not recommend it. Everything is very old and the cabin does not even have the scarce items that is says they provide, such as utencils and such. They have some but it was so gross we couldn't use them. The towels and linens were bad also. I don't know how this place could get good reviews, everyone has their opinion I guess but these cabins are not worth the price we paid and there was nothing comfortable about them. As for being clean, that was the biggest joke of all. The people who work here seem to only care about talking among themselves and not pleasing their customers. more

Great spot 1/7/2008

I stayed here during 2007 and this is not a fancy hotel but very neat and clean. The rooms are a bit small but they have the best beds I have ever slept in!!!!The hotel also has the best view you will ever see.If you are looking for a nice place at a great price give this place a try.I stayed for a full week and only paid $700.00,not bad! Pros: WATERFRONT Cons: rooms a bit small more

I love Snug Harbor 11/26/2007

Chincoteague is a great place to go during May or June, all other times during the summer are very busy.We love staying at the Snug Harbor Marina. This is not a 5 star hotel but very neat and clean with the best views you will see anywhere. We always stay a week but really one week is not long enough. The family atmosphere is what brings us back year after year ! more

Great beach vacation 11/26/2007

I went to Chincoteague island for the first time and found a nice little hotel called Snug Harbor.I have never been to Chincoteague before and didn't know where to stay but heard great things about Snug Harbor, and decided to take a chance and had one of the best vacations I have ever had.I rented a waterfront cottage with the best view ,and even rented kayaks and toured the islands by day and sat on the dock in the evenings and watched the pretty sunsets,it was a very relaxing stay and would love to go back. Pros: location Cons: ? more

Snug Horror! 11/19/2007

I stayed here with my girlfriend over the summer. She was especially not happy with this motel. Actually it's not a motel but cabins. The cabin we stayed in was dumpy. The website said these are waterfront cottages. All we saw when we looked out our window was a dusty parking lot. You have to walk down to the pier to see the water. The bed in our cabin was comfortable but took up the whole room! You could not move in there! My girlfriend hated the bathroom because it was so small and no electrical outlet. Her exact words were she felt like she was slumming it. It was very old feeling, very musty too. Good luck if you needed anything after 5:00pm, everyone did a disappearing act. Snug Harbor is not recommended Pros: ??? Cons: cabin more

Snug Harbor...a home away from home 11/10/2007

Snug Harbor is a great littel hotel that sits right on Chincoteague Island. It's located close to the National Seashore with the most incredible views! I have only been once to Chincoteague but would love to go back.Snug Harbor is a small waterfront hotel that offers cute island cottages with views of the water and the wild Chincoteague ponies! You can even rent a boat and get up close to nature and the world famous ponies. The customer service was good but they need more help during the very busy summer season. If you have a family or are a couple Snug Harbor is a great choice! more

Best location in Chincoteague 11/9/2007

Snug Harbor has the best location in Chincoteague. We stayed in 2007 and rented a small waterfront cottage with the most incredible view I have ever seen!Snug Harbor also has boat rentals if you are into fishing or crabbing or maybe into exploring the islands. The cottages are very well maintained and very clean and cozy!I will give you some advice don't go to Chincoteague during June,July or August. The best time to go is May,September,or October....not as many people! Pros: very clean and cozy more

nice little hotel 11/9/2007

Snug Harbor Marina was a great find.We never book hotel rooms before vacation and like to explore new places and stay at unique spots and Snug Harbor is exactly the type of place we love! They have waterfront cottages for only $99 per night. The cottages are nice and clean with the best beds I have ever slept in!We were only able to stay for 2 nights because they are very busy during the summer months and of course we didn't have a reservation but we will go back for sure. Pros: grand waterfront location more

Bad lodging, bad town 10/22/2007

The people who work here are very unfriendly. They seem to vanish every time something was needed. These cottages were very expensive for the small quarters that they were. I would say in general the service we received in Chincoteague was poor. I don't think I will return to this particular area. For the money that was spent on this vacation I could have had a much nicer lodging (and cleaner) and visited a much nicer area. Assateague beach was pretty nice, that was the only good part of the whole trip. Deer are everywhere on Chincoteague and it is quite dangerous. Twice deer ran out in front of us and almost crashed right into our car. It is just a pretty gloomy little town. Pros: Assateague Cons: Chincoteague more

Won't go back 9/13/2007

This lodging was disappointing for us. The cabins really need to be renovated. We were especially disappointed in the size of the cabin particularly the tiny restroom area. The shower was really bad. The stove was, how can i describe it, gross. I would have never have cooked anything on that stove. We opened the drawers in the kitchen and found crumbs and dirt inside. I am surprised we didn't see any critters . Of course we only were there for a couple of nights. I won't be coming back to Snug Harbor. more

terrible! 6/27/2007

These cabins were terrible! Everything was so run down and dirty. The location on Eastside was very much away from everything. I would have preferred to have been closer to the main downtown area. That way I could have walked to more places instead of having to drive everywhere. I had never stayed here before and I will not stay again. The price may be a little cheaper then some places in Chincoteague, but it was definitely not worth it! I will spend a little more next time for a decent place to stay. Pros: water Cons: dirty, old and rundown more

Snug Harbor....a great summer vacation 3/9/2007

My family and I stayed here in 2006 and had one of the best family vacations we have ever had.We stayed in a waterfront cottage just steps away from the water. We rented kayaks during the days and explored the islands, and at night went fishing off the piers. If you are looking for a great unique place, this is it.We stayed for a week but next time we are booking for two,one week is not long enough. Pros: grand views Cons: very busy more

avoid this lodging if you have children or even if you don't! 2/19/2007

I stayed at Snug Harbor in summer of 2006. I had my 10 year old son with me and if you have children I would not recommend it here. There are a couple of bars right on the premisis and alcohol being served. There is not very much for children to do as there is no pool here. We had fun going to other places. We went to the beach and played miniature golf but this lodging was not very good. The cabin was small and older. We stayed for 5 days and we used the same 3 towels the whole time. Old, thin towels. We asked housekeeping to please bring us more but she just looked at us and shook her head and we never received any towels. There was also a used papertowel in our linens when we pulled down our bed for the first time. We were not pleased with the cleanliness or appearance of our cabin. I guess you get what you pay for! Next time we will stay somewhere with a pool and alot nicer rooms and also a place where you don't have to worry about people who have been drinking driving on and off the premisis. We will book somewhere soon as Chincoteague gets crowded in July! Pros: on water Cons: everything else more

Best location in Chincoteague 12/12/2006

The best location in Chincoteague is Snug Harbor Marina. You can book a waterfront cottage that overlooks Assateague Island and the wild Chincoteague ponies. The rooms are nothing fancy but very clean and very comfortable. They even have nice plush pillow top beds, very nice.If you are looking for a cool place to relax you will not find a better place. Pros: location....location.....location Cons: rooms a little small more

Great vacation in Chincoteague....Snug Harbor 12/8/2006

I went on a fishing trip to Chincoteague and stayed at the Snug Harbor Marina in 2006.We went the first two weeks in June, the best time for Flounder. The fishing was pretty good and the stay at Snug Harbor was very nice.I have stayed at many places around the country on business and also on hunting and fishing trips and Snug Harbor is one of my favorites. The cottages are not fancy but very neat and clean and very comfortable. They even have very plush pillow top beds, very nice. Pros: great location Cons: could not stay longer more

NOT GOOD 10/9/2006

I stayed at Snug Harbor cottages in July06 with my wife. We are not picky people by any means. Our cottage was overpriced for what it was. Kitchen features were very old and having crumbs on the counter and floor when we first walked in our cottage made matters worse. My wife said it seemed like someone just went over the place and that it wasn't cleaned. So she wound up cleaning when we arrived. Not a good way to start a vacation. There is no pool here which was a disappointment. We like staying at a place with a pool. I guess that was our fault for not checking first. If you are looking for a hotel that is reasonably priced and halfway decent, which is what we were looking for, this wouldn't be the best choice. You don't get what you pay for here. My wife's other big complaint was the bathroom It was tiny and the shower stall was very tiny. There was no plug in the bathroom either. Oh and no smoke detector which was scary considering the appliances were ancient. The place could be nice, there is a marina there also and the layout is nice but the cottages leave much to be desired. Pros: marina is nice Cons: cottages are crappy more

Great Vacation Spot 2/11/2006

Myself and a friend stayed at Snug Harbor in August 2005. We had never been before and I have to say it was a great little vacation spot. The cottages were very well kept and the views were awesome. We had never been to Chincoteague before and the manager John was very helpful in telling us all the things to do in town and where to go and sights to see. They also rent out boats and kayaks. We took a boat out one day and went fishing and had a great time. At the end of the day we sat at the tiki bar and had a few cocktails and watched the sun go down. The view of the water is really breathtaking. I recommend Snug harbor if you are looking for a relaxing getaway from big city life...we will definitely be back this summer! more

Great stay at Snug Harbor Marina 2/10/2006

We stayed at the Snug Harbor Marina in 2005.We stayed in a waterfront villa that had the most incredible view.We also rented a boat and took a trip to a secluded beach. The villa was modest but very clean and comfortable.Would love to stay again. The customer service was pretty good but on busy weekends they could use more help,it gets like Disneyland sometimes with all the people. If you are looking for a nice weekend just make sure you book during the week, there aren't so many people. Pros: grand location, great fishing, good price Cons: could not stay longer more

Not so great 1/11/2006

I stayed here for a few days this past summer, in the summer of '05. I love the town of Chincoteague but would probably not stay here again. The cabins, which they call villas, are small and not very plush at all.Very basic for what you pay.It would not have been bad, but also the cabin was not as clean as I might expect. My husband and I did enjoy renting a boat and going fishing and the view of the lighthouse was nice. I also felt the man who seemed to run the place was not very customer friendly, almost as though we were bothering him.I will come back to Chincoteague but as I said I will look for other accommodations. Pros: view, fishing Cons: bad customer service, cabins not clean more
