Sleep Country Amphitheater

I live in Florida, but was in town visiting family and decided to attend a Def Leppard concert at the last minute. I was all over the internet to find a ticket (1), and there were plenty available, but I was nervous buying from anyone but Ticketmaster. It was impossible to know which sites were scammers and which ones were legitimate ticket sellers. The problem with Ticketmaster is that they assign me the seat they want me to buy, instead of letting me choose my seat from all available seats. I do think you should warn folks about the plethora of fraudulent sellers out there, and also make ticket selection easier. I would have purchased my ticket directly from the box office from the start, but I couldn't find that option at the Sleep Country Amp website. I purchased VIP parking since I liked the promise of easy in/easy out, but almost got diverted to general parking (luckily I questioned it). Then as I got closer to the VIP parking, I saw the Handicapped lot and parked there for free since I have a placard. When I went to purchase merchandise I stood in a fairly long line, and was grateful they were also selling light blankets (it turned out I did not need the blanket after all; I was actually too hot most of the time during the concert). I checked out the ladies room next, and found it to be spacious, clean and well-stocked with paper. I was disappointed with my seat location, so I walked up to the box office to see about purchasing a better seat. By the way, just before I left for the concert I had rechecked the Ticketmaster site, so I was surprised that the box office had a really good seat available. Leaving the venue took a long time. I recommend you pack a small cooler with some drinks and a sandwich and leave it in your car. I did not buy any food or drink there, but it looked like they had a good selection. Before going to the Steve Miller concert I read all the reviews on the Amphitheater. I was a bit concerned. Now I am thankfull for all you folk that complained. It must have worked. The staff was great! Going even so far as to find better seats for someone. Very odd. more

Many have written about the poor parking situation so I want to point out the other serious flaw. Be it liability or any other reason My wife and I went to see Coldplay, the band was great, the sound was great and the weather perfect. But... we like to move around a little, getting into the music. At this venue if you want to do more than stand at your seat expect the staff to scold you. Good money is paid to enjoy the show and instead every turn they step on you. Our first and last time attending the Amphitheater. Pros: Modern, Real bathrooms, Airy and Loud. Cons: Event Staff, Parking and Traffic control. more

Beautiful venue really, the place was clean and well maintained. The lawn was comfortable and provided a great view of not only the stage area, but also the skylines. The lawn didn't slope too much and was comfortable to sit or stand. The staff that works the venue however ruined my experience there. I don't think I'll ever go back. They were rude, difficult, and don't have any understanding of customer service. I'm not just talking one or 2 people, everyone from the ticket checkers, the concessions, parking, etc all provided horrible service. I was listening to 2 concession workers carry on a conversation about how terrible the crowd was if front of the entire area. I could rant about the specifics, but you get the idea. They obviously have forgotten that people pay to go there. Unfortunately, I will no longer be one of them. Save your money if you are thinking about going. The sound there is lacking as well. Nice looking place but the crew that works it is sketchy. Generally sort of rude and confrontational with no real reason to be so. Now I know why they call it Van-tucky... Pros: Easy to sit and move around Cons: Aggro staff; bad sound on the lawn more

I am going to a concert there coming up and it has been like pulling teeth getting some kind of consistency in their stories. Each person says something different. All we wanted to know was how we could get the best seats. It ends up we paid big bucks for seats 16 rows back when they told us that buying the expensive tickets was the ONLY WAY we could get front row. We are still trying to get a straight answer. I will review again after the show even though I'm sorry I ever bought tickets for this venue. I had heard about how bad the parking was already so I suppose we get that to look forward to as well. more

The facility is top notch - the facility management is ok - the traffic management is terrible. Waited for over two hours to get out of the ""A"" east parking lot after the CSNY show. Hundreds of people were fenced in with no available exit - traffic staff did not communicate anything to anyone. Staff is inept. They are lucky we didn't cut the fence down. WOW! I went to my first show at the Amphitheater last Saturday and it was AMAZING! Having seen Tom Petty last summer at the George Amphitheater in eastern Washington I fail to see why I would ever drive 5 hours to see a show when I can drive 15 minutes. Not only does the Amphitheater at Clark County have nice new facilities and superb sound system, it also has flush toilets! Not once did I have to wait in line for 30 minutes to stand in a foul smelling plastic booth just to make room for more beer (which is expensive, but thats life). The other cool thing about the Amp at Clark County is the Indoor/outdoor hybrid venue. The indoor portion gets LOUD & you could really tell that Petty was feeding off the crowds energy, something that seems lost at the huge outdoor venues like the gorge. At the same time you can enjoy spreading out in the grass with friends and still have a great experience with excellent sound quality. As far as traffic, sure it takes a bit to get out of the parking lot, same as leaving a blazer game, Seahawk game, or any other event that draws 15,000 people to one parking lot. Any true music fan shouldnt flinch at spending time in a car with friends after an excellent concert experience. Especially when they only have a 20 minute drive home! Shame on anyone who misses one of their favorite acts because they dont want to wait in line!!! Over all my experience at the Clark County Amphitheater is one I plan on repeating as many times as possible, and I hope to make at least a few of their remaining shows this season. I went to the amphitheater when it first opened...traffic was bad, things seemed in chaos, service was just ok...but when I went for the GooGoo Dolls and Counting Crows things could not have been any different. I went close to show opening because of work, and was able to park and be at the gate in about 10 min. The sound was amazing, the service (other than pricey) was good and the food wasn't bad for that kind of place (think better than rose garden). When the show was over, I was on the freeway home in about 20 min or so. It may look like the woods but all in all I was home faster than the last concert I went to at the rose garden. All I can say is that if you are planning on going to a show out here in farm land, GO EARLY! Traffic is bad enough on I5 in the evening but if you happen to get to the event late (because of traffic), you've got problems. You'll be parking in the boonies with quite a hefty walk ahead of you. Also, if you plan on having an alcohlic drink at the show, make sure and stop at the wristband stand at the top of the ampitheater. They won't sell to you below (even with ID) without one. Also you can't bring a drink inside after ""dusk""??? Not sure the benefit of that one. Sightlines are good however sound is not great if you sit on the sides closer up.
