If you are looking for a genuine 19th century experience, this is the place to go. There is nothing trite or touristy about it! The rooms are very clean and well kept. Pride of ownership abounds. We stayed in room 25 which overlooks ""B"" st. We had a great view of Pipers Opera house and the old miners union hall. In the room everything works from the transoms above the doors to the huge windows. There are no ""Keep off the grass"" signs, if you know what I mean. From the moment you enter, you are truly transported back to the 1870's. Although the lighting is electric, it is subdued and very reminiscent of gas light. The architecture is amazing. I must warn you that as wonderful of an experience we had, the hotel might not be for everyone. The only modern amenities are electricity and indoor plumbing. That means no elevator, phones, internet etc. Also, we were unable to get a cell phone signal from the room. The beds were very comfortable, but the room was just a little chilly. There was a portable heater but the bed could have used a couple of more blankets. However, we were there in the off season. We thought that this added to the authenticity. Any one needing ADA access will need to book a room on the 2nd floor and enter from ""B""st. The stairs are very steep and the hallway is narrow on the 3rd floor. Parents with young children will need to watch them closely-no running up and down the stairs. Remember the building is over 130 years old and there were not a lot of safety features built into the architecture. These points are not a complaint at all; they are just a caution that the Silver Queen is the real deal and must be treated as so. more

My husband and I rented 2 rooms (7 and 8) we took one and my son took the other. I had a wonderful feeling while I was there and even saw something the first night. I woke up about 2am to a scratching/thumping noise. When I looked up I saw a shimmering fog of sorts. I watched it as it went over my bed and into the next room......My son and his girlfriend wouldn't let me close the ajoining door......so I watched the misty fog hover over the kids and then it dissappeared out the window. more

We stayed 3 nights in 3 different rooms. 11,29,13.. Is it haunted? After reveiwing over 500 pictures, 4 hours of infered video, and hours of EVPs...YES, it is! Room 13 overnight cam shows orbs flying around all night! Yes, the walls are thin and you hear your neighbors, but the first nite in room 11, we and a very quiet gentleman we're the only ones on the 2nd floor. Voices whispering, foot steps on wooden floors down the hallway! (All of the hallways are carpeted)... more

Stayed at this famous historic ""haunted"" hotel, room #4. Did not hear or see any ghosts but did hear guests in other rooms. Visit the historic Silver Queen (real silver dollars) in the historic bar. A fun visit gives a view of what it was like in the rowdy 1870s. Clean room, not fancy. Thin walls, narrow halls and stairs, no phone, A/C or TV in the room. No elevator. A nostalgic historic hotel. Right in the center of Virginia City. more

Stayed one nite in room 11 was very cold and haunted. Heard noises all nite. Very thin walls. I got touched twice on my head while sleeping. Was fun if you are there for the ghost other wise you wont like it. Alot of old furniture and not kept up to great but we stayed in mar 2012 and was very cold even snowing out so the room was cold and the ghost made it even colder. But was a fun stay and would go back. more

Listen, this is an authentic1800's style hotel. This is not a modern hotel by any means. Yes, thin walls, no TV, no internet, no AC.. but thats all part of the experience. Bottom line, fantastic staff, excellent bar service and i look forward to returning for another stay. Ghosts... OH YEA you wont get much sleep! We stayed in room 18 which is the top floor with 2 windows that open up for a great view! The bed will shake, you will hear doors slamming through out the hallways, random voices talking in the room and outside your door and something shaking the door knob! more

My husband and I just celebrated our twenty year anniversary and we decided we wanted a little adventure. We both had watched the shows on TV that featured the Silver Queen Hotel in Virginia City and remembered that the programs said that the place was haunted so we made mid-week reservation for a stop-over between Vegas and Reno. We got a room above the bar, facing the street. Upon arriving we found the room was very old fashion, comfortable and we felt like we were in the times of the old west. more

I just loved the way it really is the way it was back in the 1870's there is not much to do after 9pm except going to the bars and gamble and there are no table games in any casinos to bad as I thought I was going to play some blackjack but the slots are very loose. I enjoyed the weekend and would go again they say that around Christmas is a very pretty time in the city. If you stay at the queen find Darla or Rick that work there and tell them Fireman/Harley Mike from Clearwater, FL turned you on to the place I had a blast and you will too as for room 9 let's just say there are many past life's still hanging around ! more

My husband and I read reviews about this hotel and it was obvious that it wasn't a place for everyone. I would advise anyone to do their research and read the reviews before you go to a hotel. I loved the idea of it being haunted, but unfortunately didn't get any visits! more

Walking in off the street you feel like you have just entered an old western movie. The bar is picture perfect with the huge mirror and old bar stools and the staff is so welcoming and friendly. There is no TV in the room, which is exactly perfect to complete your Virginia City experience, and the rooms have been beautifully preserved. The location is ideal for a walk around the town and the chili dogs at the bar, with AMAZING homemade chili, are delicious. There is a bakery next door which has fresh coffee and yummy pastries, I recommend buying the travel mug for free refills =) more

The walls are a little thin but other than that this town in amazing! My boyfriend and I had a ghostly encounter at this hotel. We heard a voice in our room say ""Oh my god, oh my god."" We both looked at each other in amazement for the voice sounded as if it was right next to us. It is a great little bar downstairs and the wedding chapel is a must see. more

This hotel is very unique. It was built in the 1800's and the only thing that appears to have been changed is that they have added bathrooms/showers to the rooms. Otherwise, it's as if you're going back in time and staying at an old west hotel. Roam in off the wood sidewalks of the city and into a true classic of a hotel. The rooms are very reasonably priced, and we had no problem getting one in the middle of June. The location is directly in the center of the city. Service was good, and check-in took about 30 seconds. Remember, though, this is a true 1800's hotel. No phones, no TV, no mini-bar. Highly recommended to help get a feel for this fun, historic city. more

I visited Virginia City to do a little historical and family research. I went through the hotel a couple of times that day, taking pictures. Beautiful interior and a few orbs thrown in for good measure! Terry the bartender and housekeeper, was so accomodating and full of wonderful information. She even remembered me from the prior week! When I need to go back to VC (only from So. Lake Tahoe - 1 hour away) to do more extensive research, I've considered booking a room at the Silver Queen so that I can stay over night. All of this from a bartender being a very nice person! more

We stayed here leaving another hotel that was outside of town. The location is the best bar-non, if you want to be in the middle of everything in town there really is only one place to stay and this is it. The management is friendly and ready to help you if you have a problem. When you go to Virginia City you want to feel like you have gone back in time and here you really do, and the ghosts greet you with a smile. more

My husband and I were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and we decided Virginia City would be fun. I called the Silver Queen and talked to Connie the owner of the hotel. She was very helpful, and set everything up so we could renew our vows in their chapel. When we got there, Tina, the bartender, checked us in. She was so nice and talkative. Our room was the Bridal Suite, which was very large. Very high ceilings and tall windows that looked out on the main street. The next day, Connie assisted us getting dressed as if it was actually our BIG day. They outfitted my husband and I in Period wedding dress. It was so much fun! I didn't see any ghosts during our visit, which was a little disappointing, but revisiting the past in Virginia City was well worth the trip. more
