Sea Shack Seafood & Chophouse

I've lived in this area for about three years now and I've tried just about every restaurant around and this is by far, the best! Good food, good service, and a great view of Nehalem Bay and the mountains. Whenever friends or family come to visit me, I take them to The Seashack; after all, it's the only decent restaurant around here! more

If you are a local to this city, then you are probably treated well. But if you are a tourist like my girlfriend and I, then you might be shunned. After waiting 5 minutes to be seated (with there being NO wait), we were left at the table for 10 minutes before we even got drinks. Finally our server took our appetizer and dinner orders... the drinks were delivered quickly, but it took 20 minutes for an order of fried mushroom appetizer to arrive. During this time we had asked the server to light the candle at our table that was clearly lit at everyone elses table..... but she laughed and never lit it.\r \r A table of four to the right of us was seated, and we had just finished our appetizer. The server came to our table and brought us the bread that most people are given with their drinks. WE had now been at the restaurant for about 45 minutes (including the 5 minute wait at the door). She also gave me my order of clam chowder, but for some reason forgot to bring my girlfriend's chowder. I assumed she simply forgot and would bring it shortly. I watched the table of four next to us get their food and eat it while I ate my chowder and bread. I was wondering why they were able to get their dinner so quickly, while it took forever to prepare our crab sandwich ($16) and grilled halibut ($18). We ran out of water and had to ask another server to bring us a pitcher because our server had disappeared. She made a grumpy face, asked if I was done with my bread.... I said ""No"", and she ignored my empty bowl of chowder and empty glass of wine and walked away.\r \r Then I was shocked to see another table of four that had sat down about 30 minutes after we had arrived get served their dinner. I looked at my watch and realized that we had been sitting in this restaurant for one hour, and our server had not refilled our water once, never delivered my girlfriend's chowder, and never lit our candle. Pros: The food seemed pretty good, and the restaurant is right on the water (though it smells foul). Cons: the majority of servers are older women with very bad attitudes and smirky remarks. more
