Sam's is the best restaurant on the Main Line 7/26/2009

Philadelphia's Main Line is seriously, seriously lacking in quality cuisine, make no mistake. That said, the only restaurant out here where I have found consistently great, quality food (other than Yang Ming) is Sam's. True it's not fancy - we're talking a great selection of roasted turkey sandwiches (I love the Supreme), pulled pork, ribs, excellent barbecued salmon, outstanding macaroni and cheese, OMG bread pudding ... - but consistently good, high quality cooking. Great servers, friendly cooks - this is a nice spot to take the family. Pros: Awesome pulled pork, ribs, turkey, smashed more

Professional Customer Service Training is Needed! 9/20/2008

I've visited this place a few times before, and yes the food is good. If it were'nt for the cooks this place would be empty. The owner who works as a host has an unpleasant disposition. She isn't friendly, which I often though why work there if you have such a bad attitude. I decided not to go back there because of the owner, who acts as if you should be grateful for her presence. She smug, obnoxious, no customer service skills and owes a debt of gratitude to the kitchen staff. Don't go here if you expect to be treated well in all aspects of dining. It's overated, especially since the owner is very discriminating. Pros: Food is good, but not great Cons: The Owner works there and she is awful more

Best Ribs 6/25/2008

When I go to sams grill, my usual is there tasty ribs. They are moist and the meat slides right off the bone. I usually dont like ribs from any other place and that means alot. They make their own barbeque sauce that is AMAZING. I always dip my french fries in it which are also exceptional. I think that if you ever go to sam's grill... that is the thing to try Pros: service, FOOD Cons: alittle cramped, not much waiting room more

Tasty and Unique Grille Fare! 2/7/2007

I've been a customer of Sam's Grill since 1999; over those years, I've gotten to enjoy many, if not all, the items on their menu. Most of them are very tasty, the portions generous and served with a smile. \r \r Here are some of the best things on the menu: \r \r The grilled portabello/mozzarella sandwich is to die for! The huge portabella mushroom is marinated in a slightly sweet but tangy teriyaki sauce. It is then grilled on a smoky fire. The mushroom is layered with fresh mozzarella cheese, fresh leaves of baby spinach, grilled onions, a touch of mayo, some grilled red peppers and a slight touch of honey mustard all stacked high on a big and fresh roll. Add a Kosher pickle spear on the side and enjoy. Mmmm. This sandwich is a fave of vegetarians and carnivores alike and is so big...you can make a whole meal out of it!\r \r Their Challa bread French toast is light, rich, perfectly done and is just right for a light breakfast. The warm maple syrup and real butter that accompany it make the combo complete. Add a definitely non-Kosher rasher of bacon or patty of sausage on the side, if you'd like, and you'll have a meal that will satisfy even the most ravenous! \r \r Their coffee is rich, hot and freshly-brewed; the waitresses appear at your elbow as if by magic with a refill. Nice touch!\r \r Their French fries? Don't get me started! A huge plate, big enough to share, of hot, golden, crispy outside/soft and smooth inside will disappear in minutes with my crowd. They simply do not need ketchup or salt or ANYthing to be perfect.\r \r The bleu cheese dressing is a keeper! It isn't that glue-y, gloppy mess that has no taste like so many restaurants serve. The dressing at Sam's is light and tangy! \r \r Negatives?\r \r Their breakfast hours are kind of strange: they don't even open till 9am. As a morning person Monday-Friday, Id like to have breakfast before that. Saturdays, though, 9 is fine.\r \r All in all, Sam's Grill is a great place for a date, with the family or by yourself. \r more

Nice neighborhood restaurant 8/6/2006

My wife and I just moved to the area and saw this place in the plaza. Gave it a shot and really enjoyed it. The wings are very good...grilled with a nice BBQ sauce on them. The burger was tasty as well. Everyone seemed to be getting the crispy onions. We will have to try them next time. Seating could be better arranged. Pros: good food Cons: seating a little tight more

Predictable, consistent, and never a bad dinner 12/5/2005

This is near our home, so we go when in the mood for a good hamburger and their great crispy onions. We have also tried specials from time to time which have also been good and like the place for a neighbor family restaurant when we don't feel like cooking. The only complaint is they need a stronger exhaust system because we feel we leave with a bit of the food aroma on our clothes. Pros: Hamburger, Crispy Onions, Specials Cons: Exhaust system, little waiting room, limited seating more
