Saffire is OUTSTANDING 1/22/2010

My wife and I went in for our anniversary last night and it was wonderful. Our server, Joe, was very attentive and prompt. The Autumn Short Ribs as well as the fish and grits were to die for!! We will be back when my family arrives in town this weekend!! Saffire is truly a jewel hidden in the Factory of Franklin!! See you soon! Pros: Great Server, Awesome Food, Wonderful Music more

Pretty good gig 1/21/2010

Brought my girlfriend here on a busy saturday night last week...we must've come in at the perfect time because we sat at the bar and then after us a crew of like 50 regulars rolled in. it was pretty awesome with everybody joking and talking and sharing wine and drinks with everybody else (even us!). saffire must have a monopoly on fun for a restaurant bar. the restaurant floor filled up too, and there was a jazz band playing. they were pretty good, though no singer--just instrumental. liked the music, food was great, atmosphere was awesome, and our service was fantastic. highly recommend it for a good time and good food Pros: food, atmosphere, service, BAR Cons: crowded bar on busy nights more

Great place to relax and enjoy good food 1/20/2010

My boyfriend and I went to Saffire on the spur of the moment on a Thursday night. The exposed brick walls, local artwork, beautiful old bar (hostess told us it was over 150 years old!) and live piano player all made the experience memorable. Pros: beautiful bar, personable staff, relaxed Southern service Cons: bathrooms needed a little help with decor more

Half Price Wine Nights are the BOMB 1/19/2010

I literally JUST came back from checking out Saffire's half price wine night (which they do every Tuesday!!!) and I have to say that I was very impressed with everything about this place. I had never been before (don't know why.. its in the Factory,) and I was pleasantly surprised. I hadn't heard the best things. People kept saying they had changed owners? The service was bad, or the food wasn't cooked properly, but I have to say that they hit it out of the park tonight. Our food was fantastic (fish and grits,) our server was very courteous and knowledgeable about the wine list. He didn't even suggest the most expensive bottle of wine on the list when we asked for a recommendation (so annoying when they do that!) All in all I will definitely be back... next time with a date. Pros: Great Happy Hour, Good Food, Good Service Cons: Family Atmosphere? more

Worst service, worst food, don't go! 1/3/2010

We made reservations at Saffire for 9:30pm so the restautrant was not crowded. We weren't greeted until 15 minutes after being seated. Server did not explain menu, after requesting bread twice since we were starving the server brought burned rolls that were horrible. We ordered two hundred dollar bottles of wine and they were dropped on our table, as the server ran back off to wait on someone else... It just goes downhill from there. My primerib was dry as could be....salad was drenched in dressing..the dessert was hard as a rock. The is suppose to be fine dinning but crackerbarrell would be considered fine dining compared to this place. The decor was mediocore, everything about this place was horrible. DO NOT waste your money!!!! I have never written a bad review ever, and I am usually extremely easy to please..... Pros: Location Cons: Horrible service, horrible food more

Poor Service 12/7/2009

My brother and I decided to take my mom, and other members of our family, to Saffire for my mom's birthday. Unfortunately, we didn't have the best experience. Generally, we aren't hard to please, but the service was just not good. Initially, our waiter was nice (especially to my toddler), but then he quickly became overwhelmed. He was rushing back and forth between us and his other tables, yet oddly, he was still very slow and unattentive. We needed to ask for things and wouldn't see him for some time to ask him! I told him it was my mom's birthday, and he said ""Happy Birthday"" to her. That was it. My father didn't like his meal, and ordered something else. Not once did the waiter apologize. At the end of the meal, we ordered dessert (that came with ice cream) to go. When we asked for the ice cream to be packaged separately, our waiter rudely replied, ""What? It's going to melt! Well, ok, but it's going to melt."" Actually, it was cold enough outside (less than 30 degrees!) for the ice cream to be just fine in the car. We got home to find that the ice cream was not packaged separately. Too bad I didn't check it there. Overall, I was disappointed and won't be returning to Saffire. Pros: Prompt seating Cons: Poor Service; average tasting food more

What a disappointment 5/19/2009

My family and I had been to this restaurant about a year ago and had a great experience. The food was good and the service friendly. A year later, much has changed! I'm wondering if it is under new management. My family and I was part of a large group of people (many from out of state). When we got to the restaurant there was no hostess. We joined our party and we were greeted by an absolutely horrible server. He was so rude, short, and snappy. We waited 20 minutes for bread and only got it when we asked for it, we asked to have the server start at the other end of the table to take orders and he demanded that we ordered right then. Additionally, he knew next to nothing about the menu and was clearly frustrated when we were asking questions about the different menu options. He tried to be funny with rude, sarcastic comments. He included gratuity on the check which I'm sure contributed to his bad attitude. He knew he would be getting a good tip regardless of the quality of service. Having worked in the service industry, I was honestly appalled by how we were being treated. Our server clearly does not enjoy what he does and his lack of enthusiasm created a very hostile dining environment and horrible dining experience. I will for sure never be back, and neither will the other 14 members of our party. Pros: Decor, Cons: Service, food quality, drinks more

Terrible servers 1/18/2009

My husband and I visited Saffire on Sat. the 17th. The atmosphere was nice and the menu looked good. We had no trouble finding something desireable to eat. However, the service was not acceptable for that caliber of eatery. It took the server several minutes to greet us and take our drink orders. The one drink that we were given was the ONLY one we had for appetizers and a meal. He visited our table maybe twice. The food is decent, however it was not the best I've had. The service was awful. IT will be our last trip, I reccomend Whitfields in Belle Meade for anyone who wants excellent food and excellent service. Pros: nice ambiance Cons: terrible service , sub par food more

Great Bar, good food, great service 4/19/2008

The food has always been good especially the daily fish special, the drink are innovated and pretty cool (alittle pricey but good). The bartender is the best she is always friendly and the service is excellent. I love the Old Factory in Franklin... they also have good outdoor eating facilities. Pros: Food, The bar, the Ambience is great Cons: alittle pricey on the drinks and wine more

Love the cocktails & the Food 4/15/2008

The food is always consistant, the mix master behind the bar has some kicking martini's. The barbecue shrimp is great and comes with hot french bread. I usually get the fish special and my Husband ordered the pork chops on our last visit, which was (2) extra large chops cooked to order. Pros: Location, food, inovated drinks Cons: drinks are alittle pricy more

Blue is an appropriate color... 3/10/2008

For what this restaurant offers in ambiance it sorely lacks in food quality and service. What a holy nightmare this place was, and during a lunch hour slow enough that we were two of only four guests in the entire restaurant, with a disheveled staff of about 15. Pros: Decor Cons: Everything but the decor more

LOVE IT! 12/1/2007

Saffire is just what my husband and I were looking for! While culinary wonders are a short drive away in Nashville, Franklin itself doesn't have an abundance of great dining experiences. Saffire is an excellent alternative to driving to Nashville for a night out. The food is great Southern fare and the atmosphere is cool and eclectic. While the service is not the best we've ever experienced, the servers are friendly and fun. Highly recommend the chicken fried chicken with Loveless gravy if your looking to tantalize your tastebuds and expand your waistline! Pros: Chicken fried Chicken and Sonoma Mac n Cheese Cons: Needs booths; seating could be more comfortable. more

Perfect Evening, Thanks Saffire! 11/18/2007

I recently took my wife to dinner at Saffire for our 5 year aniversary. From start to finish our night was perfect. We had the emapnadas to start. They were prepared just right and had great flavor. My wife and I both got the Fish and Grits and were very happy with it. The wine list was great and our server recommended a great chardonnay that we really enjoyed. I cant wait to return to Saffire. Keep up the great work. Pros: Food, Ambience, Service more

What's happened? 11/4/2007

I don't know why I keep coming back to the place. As for the good reviews those people must have never gone to a ""good"" restaurant. I've eaten across the US and let me tell you this is not a good restaurant. The food is just ok, everything tastes the same. They used to have a great ""Happy Hour"" so that made it passable but now they don't even have that. Pros: It's in Franklin Cons: over priced ""ok"" food more

Delicious 10/4/2007

I visited Saffire alone on a Sunday evening around 6 p.m., and the place was nearly deserted. I asked the bartender to recommend his favorite small plate, and was amazed by the most sensational roast pork I've ever eaten. The tamarind BBQ sauce sounds trendy, but tasted--quite simply--perfect. The pineapple martini was both refreshing and potent. more

Great Place to take a large Group or for Special Occasions 9/26/2007

I use Saffires for clients who come in from out of town and to host large groups. They are great to deal with and will work with you in any way. more

Could Not Ask For More! 3/25/2007

It has been a while since me and my wife went to Saffire for dinner. Even though the restaurant was packed the host greated us with a smile and led us to a great table in the middle of the restaurant. The service was perfect from start to finish. The wine list was interesting and included many bottles that I have not seen in restaurants before. The wine manager sold me on a 1996 rioja and as he described it, it was indeed ""Amazing"" . The food was very well done. We really enjoyed the cold crab cake and the filet. I am sure that we will be back very soon. Pros: Wine, Food, Service, Decor Cons: Parking, Location more

bs food at bs prices 3/18/2007

i had alwasy heard sombady hear they were a good place for food and wine, they are a good place for people who dont know food and wine, the entrees show no variation between, the same sides are offered throuout the menu, a REAL chef would have each entree come with its own thing, we payed $10 for the cuban roast pork which had as much fat as pork, a REAL CHEF woul trim their product, the plantain chips were atleast four days old, i do them regularly at my restraunte, so i do know, my longisland was sweet and sour on the rocks, and at the very least you could to teach your servers how to pernounce the cheese on your daily chees platter, st/ andreas, is not saint andre, weak food, weak chef, weak service, and fyi to the chef a grit cake was exciting 100 years ago, you gotta great spot and a great set up, use it to your advantage, not to your demise Pros: location if you live in the factory Cons: everything from the way under par food. to the service, go mcdonalds and tipe $80 save your time and money more

great lunch for bussiness or pleasure 11/1/2006

Had a wounderfull Luch on Tuesday the 31 at saffire, the Sous Chef came and talked to us and asked if we injoyed out time with him. Loved the creative pasta dish that he searved us (the voodoo pasta) what a great name even on that day. Pros: servers are there for the guests. and the lunch is great more
