Great changes 2/14/2012

I'm really sorry to hear that you had a less than enjoyable experience at Rosehill. I have worked there in the past. I can understand your concerns and see how they may dampen a great day riding. As you know where there is manure, there are flies. Of course, there are new and improved ways of managing these pests. With the improved barn management many of the issues you experienced have been either improved or eliminated. The grounds are in fact beautiful and well kept. I would encourage you to return and see if you have a better experience. more

Poorly Managed Facility 3/4/2009

While I hear positive remarks about their pony camp program, I strongly advise against boarding a horse at Rose Hill. In comparison to other barns in the Hamptons area, this one had:\r \r 1) an intolerable number of flies both in the horse areas and the lounge\r 2) too much of manure in the stalls\r 3) poor ventilation (box fans were bungee corded to the stall windows)\r 4) the ineptitude of the handlers did not inspire confidence as they handled my horse\r 5) not enough room for my trunk\r 6) I found my saddle placed haphazardly on the tack room floor several times\r \r The staff was pleasant enough, but I did object to their loud arguing as I ride the animal. A horse that was inexplicably quarantined in back by the trailers and manure bins was making distressed whinnys from where he was kept. It was a suspicious and troubling situation all summer long.\r \r Though the barns are disastrous, the grounds are lovely. There is an indoor ring, outdoor ring, and jumps in the field. Pros: In a nice area north of the highway. Cons: Disastrous maintenance of the stalls and lounge. more

Excellent for taking lessons and pony camp, but wouldn't board a pony there. 11/11/2007

My girls absolutely loved the pretty facilities and staff, but I wasn't too happy with how the stalls and stable areas were maintained. There was an excess of stiting horse excrement, the numbef of flies were beyond what is reasonably expected for summer and unimpressive ventilation for the animals. I love the grounds and staff, but the ponies don't get a very good slice of it.. Pros: Great lessons, staff, location and scenery. Cons: Would not board a pony there. Stalls were minimally ventilated, poorly bedded and full of pony poo. more
