The beauty is hard to miss with sunrises peering over the mountains to the east ans sunsets painting the evening sky above the western mountaintops at dusk. Twelve rolling acres of gentle Virginia countryside make it easy to let down your guard and feel safe here. With four fireplaces inside and a grand stone firepit outside, Rivendell is warm and inviting to all who visit.
It is a gated home with 12,000 square feet of living area which doesn't include the pool house apartment or the greenhouse! There are 9 bedrooms & 7 full bathrooms along with 3 kitchens and a large 20x50 meeting room for events. Plenty of fun can be had on-site with our outdoor swimming pool, ping-pong table, pool table and extensive grounds. We have a music studio and even a wood shop where you'll find enough construction equipment to build a house!
We are located five miles off Interstate 81 and only 90 minutes from Washington, DC. Dulles International Airport is only 45 minutes away and only nine miles from beautiful Winchester, Virginia. We are just far enough away from the density areas that make drugs and alcohol more accessible and are close enough to be the convenient recovery choice for the Washington Metro area.
Rivendell is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which offers an affordable refuge for suffering addicts where they can find recovery from alcoholism and drug abuse. Here, you will meet young and old, men and women working together as a community to change and grow from the inside out, and they do not do it alone. Ours is a 12 step program taught by people who have successfully overcome the disease of addiction. We share our experience, strength and hope as we lead even the most hopeless addicts to a new way of living without alcohol or drugs. Because we have done it ourselves, our example is a powerful motivator for newly recovering addicts. The old saying "It Takes One to Know One", really applies at Rivendell. Because we have been there, it is harder for the addict to get one over on us!
