This place is under relatively new ownership. I believe it is a change for the better (at least for breakfast). My sister and her boyfriend were here on vacation (visiting me) and stumbled onto it while shopping one morning. I knew of it, but always passed it because it is pretty nondescript on the outside. Well my sister would not shut up about how great her breakfast was and how nice the owner was. Even when she got home she would e-mail me asking whether I had been to Rick's yet. So finally my husband and I went. The food was soooo darn good. Their omelettes are so big, chock full of goodies and just enough cheese to make it sinful and delectable. The eggs are not overdone. Their hash browns are the real kind... the shredded potato kind - not the chunks. They overflow the plate and are super crisp and brown on the outside, but thick enough for them to be soft and creamy within.
Ok, now sometimes the wait person you get can be a bit of an airhead, but there always seems to be another wait person on hand to make things go smoothly. Service is always friendly and prompt. It is always clear that the guy running the show cares what you think and really wants you to come back. You will.
An aside - - I was in Nanaimo a few weeks ago at an internet place and the woman checking me in told me that when she visited PA she went to a great little place across from the Cornerhouse. I told her it was Ricks. She was similarly impressed. Funny what people remember from trips.
Friendly service, nice jazz background music and plenty of heavenly food... it is just the perfect way to start the day.
