Charcoal Hickory Shrimp always great! Great steaks. Best salad bar and bread. Now they have coupons in Courier Post too! Can't beat it. You always feel at home.

Dreadful Food, Shoddy Service, Massively Overpriced. 4/6/2007

Went with a party of 10 for a celebratory dinner on a recent Thur evening. Despite being mostly empty, our sevice was spotty and the servers disappeared for long stretches of time. I had heard raves about the salad bar, but i thought it was pretty ordinary - I've seen better salad bars in chain restaurants. Our food took ages to get there, and we were not impressed, across the board. Whatever you do, don't order the seafood there! The scallops were rubbery and overcooked, while the fish was burned, then smothered in a nasty red sauce (not what was ordered) to cover up their mistake. The Pub is supposed to be known for their steaks, but the steak cuts weren't good quality, and were pretty blah. If you're paying $30 for your steak, you expect a good cut. The sides were bland: stuffed potato was flavorless and looked like it was under cooked many hours before, while the veggies were very overcooked, limp and tasteless. In this day, I can't get how you can mess up a baked potato and string beans, but they did it. All this, and then you're paying premium prices, and have to drive a ways to get there? Puh-leez. That's my 1st and Last visit. The kitschy decor was the only positive part of the night, for that they get 0.5 rating. Pros: kitschy decor Cons: Overpriced, really really poor food, spotty service, more

Simply the best. 11/26/2006

I gotta be honest with you. Every time I go to the Pub I just start to smile. It's a place that takes me back to when I was a kid going out to eat with my parents. Going to the Pub was always an occasion - a good occasion. And the Pub looks just about exactly the same as it did at that time. For me it's like stepping back in time. I just love it. Pros: Food, Salad Bar, Ambience, Parking. Cons: No reservations - but I'm really nit-picking on that one. more

Soyth Jersey Staple 9/1/2006

This restaurant has been a family tradition for me and my loved ones for as many years as I can remember. From the medieval decor, to the healthy portions, to the fabulous salad bar, this place never dissapoints. I took my husband there for the first time and he said he has never had a better steak along the east coast. I am surprised at how many South Jersey residents have never set foot in the place--what are ""youz"" waiting for? My favorite items are the zucchini bread on the salad bar and the warm, crusty loaf of bread that graces your table. The onion ring atop the steak is the perfect compliment and the desserts are wonderful. The only thing wrong is that they no longer have the live entertainment in the lounge--something I remember as a child and thought was so nice. I highly reccomend this place to anyone looking for more than just a meal--it is truly a dining experience. Pros: Different from the "same old, same old". Cons: No more live entertainment. more

Missing the hype 3/23/2006

Over the years I've heard many people hype this restaurant, but I'm sorry I just don't get it. The food is average, the cavernous dining room noisy, and the salad bar somewhat lame compared to others. I had prime rib that was large, but there was quite a bit of waste. The service we had was excellent... can't fault them for that at all. I would probably go to an AC buffet beore going back here to eat. Pros: Great Service Cons: GIANT dining room, Poor Salad Bar more

from the beginning! 12/14/2005

My wife & I have been visiting the Pub since before we were married (1958). Even tho' the ownership has changed, they still serve a phenomenal dinner. The salad bar is second-to-none! MMMM! GOOD. Now, for recent disappointments: We arrived with 5 friends recently & there was no way to check our coats. Then, we love to sit in the lounge area & sip a cocktail, but we were embarrassed by the condition of the room. The once cozy little chairs were decrepit! Arms slashed, worn to a frazzle, simply beat! The place looks like it's doing all right, but you couldn't tell by the decor. I think that the drinks have slipped as well. Once gigantic. Not any more. I even fished a piece of fuzz (I think) out of my glass of Merlot. PLEASE! Correct these problems. We have many happy memories of The PUB to wander elsewhere. Pros: FOOD, SERVING SIZE, COFFEE Cons: DECOR, DRINKS, SMOKING more

Long time friend 5/26/2005

I am 62 years old. My wife and I came to the Pub when we were dating in our late teens. The food was great then. And the food is just as good now if not better. I highly recomend the Pub resturant to everyone. All my friends not go there. It is still our favorite resturant today. In fact we plan on visiting the Pub for our 42nd weding aniversary dinner. Pros: great tasting food, great salad bar, good variety Cons: no reservations, too far from my house more

I Love Steak 12/29/2004

Starting with the 30+ minute wait, which I would have had no problem with if I was not told 15 minutes, it went down hill from there. The server took to long to even take the order for drinks then wanted our meal order at the same time. The Salad bar is a make your own, LITERALY! You have to actually cut apart your own letuce unless you go for Cesar (which was good) 25$ for a 12oz steak which was burnt and had no seasonings except A1 which is provided. Had to get my own toppings for the baked potato and for 3 people this bill was over 75$. Could have made it at home a lot better and for much less money. If you do not know how to cook I recommend this place. Pros: Ceaser Salad Cons: , Rushed service, Pricey more

SIMPLY THE BEST 1/31/2003

We all work hard for our money, so don't waste it by passing up The Pub. You are guaranteed a good time and a great meal. Also, without all the fancy decor of other restaurants, you won't have to take out a second mortgage. Steak, seafood, salad, desserts - ALL WONDERFUL. I grew up in the Philadelphia area but have since relocated to the southern part of Delaware. Even though it is approximately 110 miles away, when there is a special occasion, we meet at The Pub. Do yourself a huge favor - TRY IT. Food, staff, and servce are EXCELLENT. Pros: Inexpensive, Good parking, Friendly staff Cons: Short wait for table more

Good food, casual surroundings 1/12/2003

The Pub has great food, but the restaurant is getting to look like it needs a make-over. A little tacky when in seen in daylight. The salad bar is fabulous. I love the zucchini bread. Great steaks and seafood, too. Do not order a trendy drink, the bartenders do not seen to keep up with new drink trends. more

from Fine Dinning to fine diner 12/12/2002

The Pub in it's hayday was a meting place for local clebs, movers and shakers. The drinks were large the beef was prime, the service was special. A recent visit was quite a disappointment. The drinks were small, the beef was a utility grade, and the service was diner level. Get the customer in, get the order, get them out out. I believe that this use to be resturant was the inspriation for the song from ""Cats"" Pros: lg. parking area, open for lunch Cons: worn, diner quality food, expensive drinks more

Don't Snub the Pub 12/3/2002

The Pub's friendly, loud, and busy-to-the-hilt atmosphere is a great place to let your hair down. The decor IS ""campy"" . . . but it's REAL camp, not off of some drawing board. Young and old alike pack this place, be prepared to find hundreds of people there at peak hours. The conversation and laughter in the huge cocktail lounge/waiting area is loud and lively because people are having a great time. Trying to pick a romantic restaurant for your date this week? Romance is what YOU make it -- and if you're depending on a restaurant to pick up the slack of your lackluster dating skills, maybe you should move back home. In the meantime, give ME her phone number and I'll take her over to the Pub. I guarantee we'll BOTH thank you for it. Great food and plenty of it. Frankie D. more

an old favorite 10/21/2002

have been going to the PUB since a child, stick to the basics here: filet mignon, NY Strip, or porterhouse. Skip all else on the menu. The salad bar may not appeal to those entertaining clients, but it is great quality. Cocktails? Go for the Manhattan or a Martini (the real ones made with Gin/Vodka and Vermouth and an olive, not the candy martini's that are popular). If you are on an expense account, go to Chris's. If it is your dime, you can't beat the Pub. Great for large parties too. more

Good value for the Money! 10/7/2002

Ah, The Pub! a Pennsauken, NJ landmark of good eating. Start with drinks that are poured with a heavy hand. Depending on the night 30 to 45 minute wait is not unusal. After being seated the service is smooth and efficent. Meat, Fish or Fowl is always done to order. The twice baked potatoes are always a sure bet. The salad bar and PUB freebies underwrite the main course. Noise level is comfortable. I go at least four or more times a year. Good value for the money. Pros: Good Value, Drinks Cons: Bathrooms more

Darn Good Steak 10/7/2002

The Pub is the best steakhouse that I have ever been to. Aside from the occasional rude hostess or waitress, the food and atmosphere is excellent. more

Oldie but goodie.... 10/4/2002

The pub rocks....it is by far the best place in the area for a good steak, not to mention the huge drinks, awesome deserts and one of a kind salad bar! This is true comfort food! more
